Need New Printer

Well my old Cannon Ink Jet printer just died.

So I'm in need of a new printer. It will need to do about 70% Photo/Model/Color Graphics printing and 30% text printing.

I have a separate scanner and access to a FAX, so I don't need an all-in-one, I just need a good printer that is still available, prints well and is at a reasonable price. (Both initial cost and per page color if possible)

Anyone have any suggestions?

About how much are you looking to spend? If it will be used a decent amount, an entry level color laser printer could be what you are looking for.

I casually spoke with one of the techs here at work the other day about laser printers and card stock and he suggested that if you're not going to print a ream of paper a month, lasers aren't a good choice. After our conversation, I decided to search for card stock printers and found the following.

Epson® B-310N Business Color Inkjet Printer -

It's an inkjet, but is a card stock printer according to the write up. I'm seriously considering getting it for my next printer.

Im very interested in the Epson B-310, has anyone used it? The specs on it says cardstock but the tech sheet says up to 51 lbs or 190g/sm

Sorry for the double post, just figured id piggy-back this one instead of starting a new one.

I am in the market for a new printer.
Sub $300 range preferably, CIS compatible, Duplex addon (not included) would be nice.

I'm having trouble finding information about if any of these printers can handle 100 - 110 lbs card stock, and I would much rather not buy one only to find out it doesnt work. also if it matters I plan to get a Craft Robo early next year.

Any help would be great.

Im considering an Epson Workforce 40 - and a CIS kit for it.

I've had a HP OfficeJet 6000 (wifi) for several months now. Printed many reams through it. I'm still quite happy with it; especially after I went with refillable ink carts from InkSupply. This dropped the cost per page so far that I'm more worried about how much cardstock I go through than how much ink. The OEM ink carts suck; they get used up way too fast because this printer is an ink vampire but with the cheap ink and refillable carts it's no longer an issue for me. For the price of a full set of XL OEM ink carts I bought everything I needed for refillable carts.

The only thing I've noticed now after a lot of use is that the yellow is starting to band. I can usually clear it up with a few cleaning cycles. I do these and then test prints on card stock... then just recycle the cardstock as disposable carrier sheets for my robo cutter. Dont know if this is just mine or common on this model. Again; with the cheap ink I don't worry about wasting ink by running cleaning cycles and test prints.

I've done some more extensive write ups on this forum about the printer, costs, and the specific kit I got.... welcome to search for them them but I don't have time to track them down and link them right now.

Ah, thanks. I searched through your posts and found where you talked about getting the HP 6000 and your results with it. Do you have to feel in cardstock using the "manual feed" tray or anything like that?
