That red thing is the logan cutter I mentioned. I never liked it.

It does work pretty well with a little practice. The real issue is making sure you offset from the line based on the thickness of your knife or blade.

Its a very nice ruler though. I like the nonskid bottom, very good traction there, and the safety ridge for your figures. Of course the nonskid bottom does raise off the paper some so its not ideal for really exacting cuts. But I normally use a smaller ruler for those areas anyway.

I also upgraded my knife for when I really need the very tip of the blade, Which normally snaps off the snap off blades and xacto knives with the first cut. For those situations I bought a heavy duty utility knife. The all metal kind with the double sided blades. Its held up really well for a couple days. The only problem I have with it is that the switch to extend the blade is in a bad spot. So I've always got my finger on it while cutting. Its caused me to slide the blade in and out be accident a couple times.

Thanks for the update. As for the extension switch issue, I have a similar issue and it ends up giving me sores if I work too long...

Make sure you are using a sturdy knife for cutting foamcore.
I got much better results when I switched from the light snap-off bladed knife that's great for normal cardstock, to using a much heavier version for foamcore work.
