Hi,
I'm totally new to this hobby and started building the wormhole missile fighters as my first project. I have trouble finding the right kind of card stock/paper for them however. I've been unable to find any kind of cardstock/coverstock here in Finland. Especially the kind you could print on with an inkjet. I tried one and the ink spread too much and couldn't get nice sharp pictures. I tried using photo paper but scoring them is a bit tricky. The coating on that paper starts to peel as soon as you fold the paper from the score. And also I've tried 3 different kinds of glue and none of them stick to that photopaper.

Anybody else here from Finland? Any ideas?

What kind of printer do you have?

I've got a Canon Pixma iP4850, quite happy with the print quality with it. The prints for Wormhole do sure eat up that black ink though

Can't you find a supplier online? I switched to matte photo paper 180 grams and have very good results. I order at 123inkt ( in Holland). Maybe they ship rather cheap to your country. I think it's important to use matte paper to avoid problems.

I swapped from using cardstock to matte photo paper (see my on why the paper matters. It's more expensive, and you want to use the paper made by your printer manufacturer, at least at first, because it's designed to work with their inks.



The matte photo paper I use is only 167 gsm and it's strong enough to hold my three heaviest pewter minis without bowing or warping. Together they weigh 136 g (that's almost five ounces, for us Americans), and you can see in the bridge photo that the paper does beautifully. There is no foam board in that photo; the bridge is made entirely from photo paper.

Cool. Have to try it out. And you don't get any of that peeling when scoring photo paper? When I break the surface with my knife and then do the fold (especially sandwich folds) the upper layer of the paper sometimes separates from the base and it looks kinda nasty.
