With World Works Games releasing Streets of Titan, I thought it was about time for another terrain project. This time the game in question is Infinity, but it would work equally well for MERCS or any other SF game.

My last set of terrain boards (http://www.worldworksgames.com/forum/vi ... 6756ffbd93) were made from cork tile, and I wanted to try a different material, and to make them double sided (roads on one side, plain on the other).

I picked up some 2.25mm thick grey board from the Art Store in town. It is ideal in terms of thickness, rigidity and price, but this stuff is a bitch to cut. This becomes very important because I want raised pavements on each tile, which means a lot of cutting out.

So, here are some pics of the process and the finished tile, but I won’t be using grey board for this. 2-3mm is about the ideal thickness. FoamedPVC is pricey in comparison to grey board, but I will try that next. If all else fails, I can always go back to foamcore

The process is very straightforward, and largely the same as with my Malifaux terrain tiles. Print the PDFs onto A4 label paper, cut out and stick onto the grey board. The roads and pavements are cut out separately, with the roads being stuck down to the base 12″ square tile. The raised pavements are stuck to other grey board and then cut out and glued down around the roads with some PVA glue.

Oh this is going to be fun to watch develop.

That is really cool. Raised pavement add a lot to visual effect.

I used to do that with my old Streets of Mayhem ground tiles. I like what you've done and if/when I buy Streets of Titan I can see me copying this idea. Nice one, sir!

For some reason, I never felt like I could get an accurate feel for what the Streets of Titan set entailed from the pictures that accompany the catalog page for them. This gives me a much better idea, and I'm excited to see more (and thinking I might "need" to pick that up... Was already eyeing that set for AT-43...).

@Heckbringer - I know what you mean. The photos on the WWG website are not very informative and are hard to decipher. I had to take what I knew of TLX, a bit of faith in WWG's quality control and just hit the order button!

I like the raised pathway. I was thinking of doing this with Streets of Mayhem so very interested in seeing how this continues.

A parts list used to be one of the standard pictures that was taken for a set...

I miss it but that would be hard to do with TLX....

I decided to try craft foam as a base material for the tile. Yes, the soft stuff kids play with

It comes in 12" x 18" sheets, 2mm thick and in black. It also comes in A4 sheets with self-adhesive backing.

Here is a Streets of Titan Ground tile done on black craft foam, with the pavements done using the self-adhesive variety. No glue needed at all, and very, very easy to cut.

The original ground tile made from grey board is on the right, and it took about 3x longer to make.



Sure, it is floppy when you pick it up, but it lies flat on the table, weighs next to nothing and is a very nice surface to roll dice on!

I am DYING to do this with some Streets of Himmelveil tiles, but I'm drawing a blank on how to keep everything at the right level for the walls.

I had similar thoughts about the ability to use in multilevel build outs but I really like the dimension the additional layering of product looks especially for Streets of Titan, I thought to perhaps make a 'speed mount' of sort with the additional layering then use normal Tiles to build up and down.
