I need a sample file to print to figure out if printer scaling is off on various printers. I do own a number of sets that have perfectly good files to use, but I am hoping for a file that I can, with permission, send digitally to people to print using their personal printers (people that don't currently build terrain). The purpose for this file is none other than scaling and therefore does not need textures or anything.

Is there a freebie somewhere on the site that uses very little ink and accomplishes this task? What about the TLX mounting templates? Other ideas?

ohhhh, That is really handy.

There is a simple 6" square template in the Floor folder of the original (pre-TLX) Thoumonts set that should be exactly what you want. All there is on the page is the a thinly lined 6"x6" square (Page one = 1" grid; page 2 = 1.5" grid) and the WWG instruction bar.

I just whipped up a simple 6 by 6 grid in Illustrator on letter paper. Does this work for you?
