OK, so I have the printer that is good enough for game play printing...I have the modeling patience...I know I want the 1.5 scale w/grid print as much as possible, hmmm what else......?

So 'Swift Scenes' would seem to be the safe bet for a go to starter...but I kinda want a road to...Would it be tacky to 'cheat ' and just use tape and 8.5" x 11" printed roads?

Oh, any tutorials floating around out there? Glue tips, folding, ect...( I didn't buy that brayer for nothing damn-it! )

MM scale for 1.5? 27mm? 30mm?

Monsters good!!

So I'm looking at "Streets of Mayhem 2005" the train/subway set. I'm noticing that the floor tiles have some slots cut into them. I'm guessing that is to hold the floor together?

Part of the terraclips?

TerrainLinx and SwiftScenics are print-and-build-it-yourself stuff that can work together. The former is a very modular system. The latter is for more static exteriors.

TerraClips is a pre-printed boxed product where the walls and floors attach using plastic clips. You can use them together with other stuff, and it's very modular so you can make lots of different layouts, but they don't connect directly to TerrainLinx stuff.


Now, you're looking at the old Streets of Mayhem from 2005

That set predates TerrainLinx, SwiftScenics and TerraClips. This picture (http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/me ... OM/som.jpg) tells me that it's a "paperlinx" style system - it's got these bowtie pieces that can help lock the floors together. Alternatively, you can skip the linking and just print to square tiles, or "speed-mount" it onto a large piece of foamcore.

Not all Mayhem stuff was brought forward to TerrainLinx. Stuff like the junkyard, the subway... I'm not into that line of stuff, so I don't know them all, but I think there's a lot of sets that weren't brought forward. If you do go with the older sets, you'll still be a happy camper. They used to be based on a 7" tile, not a 6" tile though. All the modern sets are using a 3" system (3x3, 3x6, 6x6) so they won't line up perfectly with the older sets. That said, If you've got some basic chops in something like GIMP or Photoshop, you could either turn the old tiles into TLX compatible tiles, you could extend the TLX tiles to become 7" compatible, or you could just make 1" connector tiles that fill in the gaps. Heck, you could just live with an occasional 1" gap if you don't care that much.
