My first build was the Maiden. It is one ship, a ship that can be kitbashed and customized, but there is such a thing as the official "Maiden of the High Seas"

I'd heard AuldGrump mention his friend building Gormenghast and himself doing the Wizard Tower, so I figured there were a number of "Official" Castles in CWU that I could pick from before venturing into my own creations. Which there apparently aren't.

I got Skull Cove at the end of summer, but there were no guidelines on building the large 40x60" setup featured in the pictures. Then when the store opened I got the InteriorWorks Combo, but I have nothing beyond a few pics on how to build the large Inn featured in its gallery.

For me, this is a huge downside. With the Maiden, I knew where I was at, how far along I'd gotten, how many of each thing to print. WIth the other models, I start with what I feel like doing, and slowly lose interest as I'm not too sure where I'm going around the end.

Now I've been staring at CWU and First Light since the first day. But I don't want or be venturing aimlessly on them either, so I'm putting it off. I want to kitbash cool bits, but start from somethign solid, which other models (Besides the Maiden) don't seem to offer. I feel far more at ease building a pirate galleon based on the Maiden (which I've built) than trying to bash some random castle together, but I like castles. Right now I'd really like to complete that "official" Inn, too.

Maybe it's just me. I know some people were annoyed that SoM:MA was apparently too specific, so maybe everyone else justs wants modularity and felt the Maiden, while pretty, just wasn't modular enough to be worth their time. I still half-expect the "putting it all together" files to give me floor plans and item count for the gallery version of the build, but no such luck...

How much trouble would that be on WWG's side? (this isn't a rethorical question -- I'm actually asking) My Lego models featured a few alternate builds for ideas, but the main build always had full instructions. And I would always build that one first. I guess I miss that.

There is an official Firstlight build. The Firstlight (and Firstlight:Retrofit) instructions lead you to build a specific ship.
