I have been using a nifty program called Dungeon Crafter to lay out floorplans for Dungeon Works and Interior Works.

In truth, when I started using Dungeon Works I thought of it almost as an expansion for Dungeon Crafter, which I have been using for years. I could finally take maps that I had designed and turn them into 3D models! The two work very well together indeed, and when I get around to using Gothic Realms more I suspect that I will be even happier.

That's not bad. I think I might use that program, and now I need to look at the custom stuff... ;D

    If you like Dungeon Crafter, you might also like Gridsmith. It's not free, but you can design your maps, scale them for hand out, and.....drumroll please......you can print them to scale for 'battlemats' (RPG's, Clix, smaller, or larger) and build your sets right on top of them. It doesn't yet seem to have the volume of user-made tiles available that Dungeon Crafter does, but you can create your own.

Week before last I gave away the first Dungeon Works board I have created as a door prize in a D&D demo game at my local game store, along with copies of the adventure that had maps created with Dungeon Crafter. People thought tha I ha created the tiles just for use with the adventure. The smalller dungeon made with Gothic Realms in particular... Dungeon Crafter has a waterways custom that goes very well with the waterway in Gothic Realms.

(I created the smaller dungeon mainly to test out Gothic Realms, and added a small undergound canal area to the adventure to go with it - I gave that portion away as a second prize.)

I use DW and GR for demonstration games and special events, I don't currently have the room to keep the stuff around afterwards. So, I give the board away after the game. (And I included a note saying that it was made with WW, and where to get it as part of the adventure that I included with it...)

The fun part is making the dungeon anyway. But sadly I am getting attached to the multilevel beasty I am working on for my Pirate's Cove adventure... It is being a pain in the butt, and the more I struggle with it the more I am getting attached to it.  Hopefully I will have a digital camera before I use it, that way I will be able to keep something of it afterwards. (Otherwise I may just break down and keep it...)

I really like Dungeon Crafter's compatibility with WorldWorks products.  I have used Dungeon Crafter previously to make several of my dungeons and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.  BTW I just had the same idea two days ago so it must be true what they say, Great minds think alike.

Just picked up Dungeon Crafter myself a couple of days ago and I am surprised at just how well it goes with DungeonWorks. Haven't tried making it work with Gothic Realms yet, but now that you mention there is a "water works" set of tiles for it - I might just have to give it a whirl.
