I realize its probably something to do with my printer since I've looked through the msg board and can't find anyone else with my problem.

The grid on the masterboard dungeon works almost lines up on the inch on a ruler.  The floating walls line up perfectly.  The masterboard tiles for caveworks don't come even close to every one inch.  The floating walls don't either.

I don't have any scaling of any kind that I can find set.

Does everyone else' grids line up for them on a ruler as exactly one inch?

That’s a strange one. My first thought was that your scaling was off but you said you've accounted for that. You can get small misalignments with your ground tiles while covering a large space if your cutting is not dead on but there is nothing as obvious as what you’re talking about here. My only suggestion would be to update your printer drivers and make sure that the "fit to page" option is turned OFF. Anyone have a suggestion or similar problem as Morval? Let me know how things turn out.

Thanks for the reply.  First off believe me, I'm not trying to be picky!  Just wondering if anyone else has the problem or its just me.

I'm measuring just one tile (7x7 on CW and 8x9 on DW).  With CW over the 7 inches its out exactly 1/16th of an inch.  So each inch grid is a little smaller than an inch.  With DW its still out now that I check it, but only a fraction, not really noticable.

I just printed a CW and then a DW with the same saettings, nothing changed, one after the other.  And I get the above findings.

If I can find an Epson printer I'll try printing them both out and see what happens.  I'll also maybe try Photoshop and print it from there to see what happens.

I didn't tell you, but I'm using Acrobat Reader v6 if that makes any difference.  I really suspect the acrobat reader.  Things just never seem to be exactly the way I want them with it.

My grids on DW printed about 1/8-inch smaller than the grids on GR. Same printer (Epson Stylus Color 777) but different printer and Acrobat version, so maybe that's the issue. I didn't have "fit to page" or anything like that, so I think it's just a software issue.

Hi Denny, I've done some more investigation on this subject finally.

I opened all the Masterboard pdf files into Photoshop v8 and every one is slightly off of 1 inch grid spacing.  I can't believe almost no one else has this problem.  Like I said in my first post, the DW floating wall grid is exactly 1", but all the masterboards and even wall and doors of the other sets are not quite 1" grid.

I don't think its to do with the printer since I'm simply looking at it in Photoshop and lining the graphic up with the photoshop ruler.

I have done a print screen showing this and saved it as a PDF file.  I'd love to send them to you to have a look at.

I can re-size everything myself, thats not a problem, but when i save some of the files they get really big.  I haven't figured out how to save them as small as your files yet  Some files (P&I Doors) say rasterizing generic PDF and they ask me for the DPI and other info.  These files save as a large file.  Other files (GR Doors) simply open up in Photoshop and save slightly larger than your original (I think this is because this is the only set I can see that was saved using Acrobat Distiller v6.0, all the others say v4.05?).

Any thoughts on the subject?

your problem is with acrobat. it is autoscaling your page.
in reader 6.0 it has a drop box that starts with "fit to page," set it to none, this should fix your problem

Sorry, but that's not the problem.  As I said in my last reply, There are three reasons why that can't be the problem.  One is I don't have fit to page set.  Second, there are a few things that print perfectly to the 1" grid spacing.  Thirdly and most importantly, I brought the PDF directly into Photoshop and its not aligning to the 1" grid.  On the screen its slightly off.  When I fix it and print it out then everything is perfect.

Why don't others have the same problem?  Well it could be that I'm mistaken or even crazy (which could very well be) or others just have not noticed.  There have been one or two with similiar problems.  I think no one notices because it doesn't actually matter in most cases.  As long as everything is off slightly then everything lines up usually.

I've simply adjusted all my pdfs with Photoshop and everything is on the 1" scale for me.

For what its worth, you're not crazy, the masterboard spacing is a bit off.  But not appreciably so, not that it makes a huge difference.  I dont think I had that problem with the masterboarrd for villageworks...

This isn't your original question but if you want to save your adjusted pictures in a smaller file you can try putting them back in PDF format with Adobe Acrobat.
