It has been a while (too long a time actually) since I put together more than a ruined corner (but it was sexy) and the urge to build my 15mm Mayhem rises again. Using Bob's detail instructions for the modular corners (which had been outlined by someone else a year or two before that) I feel that in the 15mm scale it could really come alive.

Now the only issue holding me up is that I have this crazy idea of building the city that is in the grip of the night - ie Having the buildings, streets etc darker than normal.

Now the way I have come up with may not be the correct way so I am throwing it out to the forum - what is the best approach to shroud the city in night?

I was thinking that layering up a colour (a dark shade) with a transparency level of about 65%. Then "carving" out light channels for the lights spilling out of the buildings. The main area that has me stumped is what shape radius should I be using on the Mayhem Flats to give the impression of light spilling out.

I also think that the streets should be done as well marking out wells of light for the lamp posts - how many lamp posts per section of the street?

Or you can add lights to everything and shut the lights out?

Or you can add your shroud and if your using Photoshop you can use the light tool to make your lighted areas.

Although getting LED's would be way cooler!

As for LED - yes but no. If the area surrounding the tabletop could be modulated enough to lend itself to a darkness which would then in turn lend to the use of LED. LED are very cool as they can be dialed right down to almost nothing - but that is totally beyond my skill level at this point.

I used this in my Shellendrak Church tower. Darkend the interior and then added the lighting filter. I will take a picture of it and post it up for you.
