I like this for large surfaces, like sandwich folds. I run a bead, then smear it out using the top of the flask. It gives you very little wiggle room when used that way, so you want to be quick, but no warping either.

For tabs I found I really like nothing better than Colleen's sticky glue (which also works well on sandwiches that need a little more wiggle time) The best part of this glue is that if you mess up you wipe it off and there is no residual shine or anything that gives away you had to correct the gluing.

For kanelinx I use a glue stick, glue a temporary template in place, cut, remove template, then glue the real printed cardstock in place with UHU (glue the foamcore, not the cardstock, or you end up with "permanent linx", lol!). Because glue sticks dont really glue all that fast or all that well this works great. Do not burnish the template, or it will be MUCH harder to remove after cutting, lol. I saw a temporary glue gluestick the other day and have beeen meaning to give that a try with the kanelinx.

I just ordered the "Twist & Glue" in preparation for WormHole. Can you imagine how many office pens you would use instead?

Always look for a store ad when shopping at Michael's. They have a coupon for 40%-50% off a normal item almost every week, they also accept competitor coupons.

That's even better. I take it the coupon in in the local Thursday newspaper, or is this a store flyer or web coupon???

Mine comes in the Sunday paper, with all the other store ads. The store circular is the same ad, but the circular isn't usually available in the store near me. I don't know if there are any web coupons.

But since they also take competitor coupons I've also used the coupon Jo-Ann Fabrics emails me.

I'd just like to chime in: UHU Twist + Glue is awesome! The precision applicator has saved my n00b builds more times than I care to count (3 out of 5 builds, I'm REALLY new), and nothing's warped yet. Although I've been taking the precaution of smearing the glue around with my finger to get an even and thin coat.

The UHU Twist + Glue decreased my recent build times for larger pieces. That and the office pen cover all the big and small glue situations I've had.

I bought UHU Twist + Glue in bulk from an online source. Since I recently discovered that Michael's carries this glue and has frequent discount sales, I'll be buying it there from now on. Although, my local Michael's carries UHU Twist + Glue, it does not have the office pens...

I got some Zig pens at Hobby Lobby back in the scrap booking section and they are working great. Very fast drying and no warping

I had been using the Elmers scrap booking glue and let me tell you, it's like going from Elmers white glue to super glue.

I can't compare to the UHU pen though, I never used one.

In my haste to get a "good" glue compared to the Elmer's I had sitting around to do my first build, I bought some Zig Pens from Wal-Mart. They seem to have a UHU-like applicator, and they don't warp as long as you don't put too much on. The only time I've had a problem with putting too much on is if you actually push down on the applicator to allow more glue to flow out while you're gluing. So, I just have a sacrificial piece of paper while gluing to use for this part. The applicator seems to be similar to the type the UHU Office Pen uses - almost like a giant marker tip.

The UHU Office Pens are still hard to find...I even work for an office supply company and the only way I could get them is to buy 12 cards worth (24 pens total) via a special order. I didn't want to wait for the order so I went searching for other glue at Wal-Mart.

Also, one other "tip" for finding a good glue type is if you search for the MSDS sheets for the glue you're interested in you can see the chemical make-up and % of ingredients. UHU Office Pens, for example, are only 10% water compared to the 90% water many other glue pens have based on the MSDS, thus why they contribute to significantly less warping.

I use elmer's glue and officedepot glue sticks to do all my builds. And I've never had any problems. When using elmers I just put some on a piece of scrap foamcore and apply it with a toothpick.

Like DR999 I have found Zip Dry glue - this stuff is dead sexy. Easy to apply plus with a range of tip styles the glue goes on like a charm. The fact that it is coloured is even better.

I have been using this solely on my WormHole builds (also spay glue for the mountings) and this glue drys fast and quiet warp free.

I normally use Office Depot brand glue sticks for my sandwich folds. But recently I came across a 20 pack of Office Max brand glue sticks at a closeout store.

These I've found are crap. They seem to be dryer than the office depot sticks. So they are much harder to apply. Oddly they seem to only cover half the area I normally get with other glue sticks too. And when placing the pieces they don't allow for much positioning. They also dry incredibly fast for glue sticks, like in 30 seconds.

I hate them, thank fully I've got lots of them.

There is a possibility that they're just old, which may be why they were being sold by another retailer. But I'm not going to try them again to see.

I've been using the zip dry glue Deathreaver recommended. Its very much like rubber cement. Which is really nice when you get some on the transparencies or the cardstock. It can just be rubbed off or pulled off.

Hold the phone. I was idly browsing at a dollar store in Parksville when I found what looks like the reincarnation of the UHU office pen, which I have not seen for sale in almost two years.

It's the same stuff I know and swear by, only now it's targeted at scrapbookers and is called "UHU Creativ Scrapbookers Pen" The spelling of creativ is not a error.

Anyways I bought all I could, $4.50 for two 20ml sticks. Now the mall will be fine for sure, I was getting worried.

Nope, trust me on this one. I destroyed a few models with that pen due to the high water content of the glue. NOT recommended.

Hey, Denny, I will be by Thursday afternoon with monitor and mods.

I went by Jo-Ann to get the uhu craft glue, but they didn't carry it.

Instead all they had were 2 packs of UHU Office Pen for $3.

Even better with their weekly 40% off coupon.

So which is better, the UHU Twist and Top OR the UHU Scrapebooker's Glue Pen? The Twist and Top I can get at Michaels today, the Scrapebooker's Glue I have to order and that may take awhile.

UHU scrapbookers pen by far. It's worth the wait, I refuse to use anything else.

I'll go ahead and order the UHU Scrapebooking pen then. But I need something to use temporarily because I need to start building for a D&D game on September 2nd. Right now I have Elmers Scrapebooking Glue which takes forever to dry and of course the UHU Twist & Glue at Michaels. Which one of those do you suggest for me to get by for now?

I use elmer's glue and officedepot glue sticks. The glue sticks work great for sandwich folds. The key to using elmers is spreading it thinly with a toothpick and then pressing it. With the roller for large areas, with tweezers or needle nose pliers for small bits like props. Look for jewelry pliers without ridges on the jaws, otherwise they leave bite marks on the squeezed areas.

Went to my local JoAnn Fabrics because they were noted in this thread as carrying the UHU Scrapbooking pen. All they had were Scotch products for scrapbooking. Went over to the adhesives section and could only find the "UHU Office Pen". Looks very similar; but is it the same? I bought them anyway but haven't opened them yet.

Germany Glue Guide:

Obtaining the UHU Office pen can be a bit tricky in Germany, as you won't probably get it in office supply stores or the average large supermarket.
You'll find it at a reasonable price at OBI where they also have the artist stuff (brushes, beads, clay, canvas and stuff), not where they have the other glue. It is called "UHU klebefix papierkleber" (Art.No.: 48260), and it's exactly the same glue pen Denny is using.

"UHU Flinke Flasche" (twist and glue) is nice for large tabs and might also work for large flat areas (depending on how you work and what you like), but it is liquid and thus should be applied with care (if you sandwich-fold using this one, pressing the paper flat will push some glue out at the edges, which I don't like).
I commonly use "PRITT Stift" (glue stick) for medium to large sandwich pieces, it is pretty dry when you apply it, but doesn't dry too fast, and it doesn't warp either.
These two can be obtained almost everywhere.
For mounting stuff on foamcore or MDF, I use UHU spray adhesive, which you also get at OBI (this time in the regular glue shelf). The one I use is not that toxic, but you should still use it outside.
