I have chunky dungeons, gothic realms, and caveworks. I work in the 1" scale, but I prefer the physical design and modularity of chunky dungeons. I don't really like the clip-it system, but I do like the pro masterboard system.

It's late, I'm tired, and I've probably had too many Corona's, but this sounds pretty simple to me (and I think I'm going to try it out tomorrow). If you have photoshop, can't you just open the pdf's in photoshop and scale everything to 66.7%? ( 1 divided by 1.5 = 2/3 = 66.7%)

damn it.... and I just created my first pro masterboard at the 1.5" scale... all that velcroing

Another con people often overlook when scaling down is that the sets are not scaled to 1.5"=5'. The sets are built to be in scale with 28mm figures, which is exactly the same scale 1" sets use.

While this is no problem with the 2D floor tiles, it can be problematic with the walls and other 3D objects.

Chunky Dungeon walls should still be high enough and not get dwarfed by the figures even when scaled down, but I would do a test before doing a lot scaled down printing to see if I still like the smaller walls.

Thanks for all the replies. Have been prepping to try the conversion. Have the cardstock, glue sticks, gonna get a new printer probably (replacement yellow on refill is more orange..blah!) Not sure if I will scale the walls down or just the floors. props are probably ok. Will probably print a few in scaled down mode from photoshop to see how they look before going whole hog..and will probably still assemble alot of the stuff from the 1.5...can always say it is a giants lair ......

just remember, if you're scaling up from 1" to 1.5" you want to make the new object 150% of the size of the old object. if you're scaling down from 1.5" to 1" you want to make the new object 66.7% the size of the old object.

I posted this in the other thread mentioned above (the Chunky thread), but for those who haven't read that....

I've been kicking around the idea of scaling Chunky as well. But instead of scaling Chunky down in size (66%), I've been thinking about scaling it up in size to 2" (133%) - at least the props and walls and such (not the grid). That should solve the small-height wall/door problem and make it easier to build, while being far more compatible with the standard 1" scale pieces.

When I started playing with rescaling of Chunky I noticed that shrinking or stretching always did the same thing to the textures in a manner that was "unsatisfying" to me.

So I started mucking around with the tiles in Photoshop. I opted to make everything 2" instead of 1". Doing this in photoshop is time consuming but easy.

This involved taking the floor tiles from 300 dpi resolution to 200 dpi resolution and then scaling them to twice the size. Now all the tiles are at 2" per square size.

To do the walls it was a little bit different. The width of the walls is not 1.5 inch. It is actually .75". So the scaling there was/is a little off.

I wanted the walls to stay at the 1.5" scale for height but the width needed to be increased and the length needed to be stretched. All in all I'm still working on the walls. None of the solutions I've come up with has been "satisfying" to me.

I might just make a blank template of the correct size and "mask" the walls to it.
