It is difficult, but possible to scale up ArenaWorks pieces. The problem lies in the fact that AW pieces fairly effectively fill up their pages, so it'll take some creative adjusting in a paint program to adjust the pieces to fit, and might even require some redesign of how they go together.

Can be done, but it would be a lot of work.

However, you might want to take a look at CastleWorks Ultimate. It's designed to support 1.5 scale natively, and has some of its own very good 3D sorts of elements, including a castle wall that would make for a great set of stands around an arena-like pit area below.

ArenaWorks is my favorite set, and I heartily recommend it to anyone.

However, Andorax is correct, you'll have to do some tweaking. The basic terrace front and terrance back printouts are 8" long, which means unmodified at 150% you're looking at 12" - probably too big for standard cardstock (and if anyone can find legal sized cardstock, let us know).

With a little bit of photoshopping, it would be relatively simple to break some of those pieces apart, scale them up, add then add glue tabs to join them together.

The width on the fronts are easy enough, one side piece is already broken off (because of space limitations); it would be easy enough to hack the other side off and use a reversed image of the existing side. The backs look like you'd also have to custom hack some stuff and add glue tabs.

You'd have to do the same with other various pieces. The Altar is of similar size to the stands, but the Royal Box is much larger, both height and width.


If you like the set, its definitely worth the time for the modifications. You can do some amazing stuff with ArenaWorks (but I'm biased - despite the incredible recent sets, its still my favorite). I've been making the Arena Works out of hirst stuff as I only have CorelDraw8, no photoshop

robby: It is your Abbey that inspired me to make an Arena Works for Mage Knight. Tired of being underground. I dont care for the regular MK 1.0 rules so I want to make an above ground version of dungeons. Dont collect 2.0 because I'm sure as soon as I've dumped a bunch of money into it they will discontinue it like 1.0 (no I'm not bitter )

I have Chunky Dungeons. I bought it for the add on stuff for my Hirst projects. But I've been thinking of getting others now also. I'd really get a bunch if Village works and Pubs and Inns was in 1.5 scale as well.

The castle works also looks like it would be alot of fun with MKD.

How hard is the Village Works to scale up?

If I did not have so much invested in MKD I might have gone with the D&D figures.

Glad you liked the Abbey. It was a lot of fun to build.

One thing to keep in mind with VillageWorksis there are no grids printed on the buildings themselves, and they are all exteriors (no interiors, like in CWU). Most buildings are around 4" x 4" or so, sometimes a bit bigger/shorter on a side depending on the building. To get them to 4.5" (to fit with 1.5" scale) is only increasing them by 12.5", and that should be mostly doable.

Now, to the files....

I did a quick look at one of the bigger buildings (medium plaster) done at 112% scaling - depending on your printer's margins, it could work. The margin at 112% is minimal at the top and bottom (less than .25"). With the smaller buildings, there is no problem scaling to that size.

If you want to scale higher, you'll have to do some work. The smaller buildings print around 8.75" long, and the medium buildings print around 9.5" long (with the roofs at about the corresponding size). So, you could only scale them up slightly and have them fit on one page like I mentioned, or you'd have to photoshop them and break them up to scale them up higher than 112%. The buildings are two wall halves to a page, so you'd probably also have to split each buildings half into a seperate page, since it would end up too wide to handle both halves.

As for Pubs and Inns, it would probably work. The props should be about the right size (and they are great). I wouldn't worry about too much about the masterboard, you can scale that up easily, and just trim off whatever doesn't print right. You might have some issues with the walls; scaling them bigger will make them taller, but if that isn't a problem, then you can easily use the 1", 2" and 4" walls at 1.5x size.

I think my 8 year old son and I will make up some Mage Knight Tiles this weekend.
