I use the cheap snap-off utility knives. I think it's the same you describe in your original post. I buy packs of blades at Home Depot or Lowes where they also sell the knives.




They make fancier ones with rubber grips and stuff but I don't mind the super cheap ones.




I stopped using my Xacto because the blades were a waste of money. All I really needed was the very tip of the blade which usually snapped off long before the blade was dull. Eventually the .5mm of blade I actually used would get dull and I'd have to switch blades; leaving the rest of the blade perfectly sharp. They are just too expensive to waste like that. I love them for other things but not card stock modeling.


....then I went and wasted a bunch of money on a robo cutter Best waste of money yet on this hobby! I still need the knife and hand cuts from time to time but much less often now
