I am starting to use some of the Sci-Fi models for my Cyberpunk games. Several of these have clear transparencies that can be printed on as part of the models.

What is this stuff called and/or where can I find it?

Surprisingly enough, they are called "Transparencies." You'll want to make sure you get a type that's made for your type of printer (inkjet or laser). Some examples on Amazon:





I've bought and used both kinds for my build of The Maiden and I found the laser ones to be poor. The printed stuff would flake off of it as the transparency got touched and flexed and such. The inkjet ones I got have a "frosted" look on one side which I don't like, but they did the trick.

Oh, and that reminds me: whatever you get, check in the instructions on/in the box whether they can be printed on either side or just 1 side.

There seems to a wide price range on this stuff. I wonder if the cheap ones flake off and the really expensive stuff works - would not surprise me if that were the case

Yeah, I don't know. Maybe others on here can recommend some others. I'm just stating what my experiences were.

I even tried about 6 different ways to seal and protect the laser transparencies and none of them worked well.

I use laser transparencies: 3M part #CG3700. Looks quite expensive on Amazon. I picked up the box at Staples. I did my Cathedrae Noctis windows with it and they came out beautifully! No flaking or anything.

You can also find them at Staples and likely other office supply stores in the isles, if not in the general "paper" isle over by the overhead projectors.

Now I can try them for cheap and make sure whatever I print doesn't flake off.
