I have a Lexmark Z25 printer and have been using refills pretty much since I bought it. Lexmark has apparently realised it's customers are big refillers and has modified their current cartridges to be easier to refill. All is usually well so long as you get to the refilling the millisecond you notice a change in colour (or see the dreaded "Ink level low" warning). I tend to get about five refills out of a cart before the print heads become totally useless.

The particular brand I use is the Ko-Rec-Type "Fillz-it-all" set. The quality of the print I find tends to go down, as the refill ink is no doubt cheaply made but by-and-large the difference is negligable barring close inspection. Given that a new colour cart costs around $30 CND I consider the trade off in quality worthwhile given the average of five refills, saving me $150!). The only real trouble is that the print head must be cleaned as part of the refill process and can be inadventantly damaged as a result. Still, I stand by refills and recommend them to anybody. Of course if anyone knows of a higher quality refill set than "Fillz-it-all", I'm all ears.

I know there has been much debate as to the quality and usefulness of a thrid party refill.
