Hi -

I have the dreaded "leftover piece" mystery after completing my Maiden (yay!).

Specifically in hullsides.pdf on page 6 (the ratline ledges) there are 4 small bits at the bottom of the page that I could not find mentioned anywhere.

Can anyone help me as to where those go? It would seem that they have something to do with the ratline ledges, but I'm too dense to figure it out.

Also, am I mistaken, or is the fold line missing from forecastle.pdf page 1? No big deal, I just went with it, but if it's a quick fix, might help others in the future.

They are indeed ratline extensions tabs. That being said, I have no idea what the intent for ratline ledges was, but the only way I managed to have the ratlines hold was to put these on top ot the ledges, fold them downwards, and fold the end of the ratline in two places, making a J-hook. The hook now attaches unerneath the extension.

Makes sense? What was I supposed to do anyway?

They are mentioned in the building directions, forward hull, in the same breath as the larger ones. But it's not very clear, really just a passing mention that they exist.

Yeah, it seems like the ratline attachment mechanism is fairly unsatisfactory. I may try kitbash some other possibilities when I get to that point with my own Maiden build.

One option may be to have the pin of a thumbtack sticking out underneath the ledge, so you have something a bit more substantial to hook the ratlines onto. Need to experiment a bit...
