I would suggest the Woodland Scenics tree kits. Twistable plastic armatures and clump foliage. They come in a variety of sizes - from shrubby little bushes to honkin' great trees, both deciduous and coniferous trees are available. The smaller the tree the more in the bag, from to . A mix of them can work quite well. (The links are to the first site I could find using Froogle.)

One of my favorite pieces of terrain is a small haunted grove, using Woodland Scenics trees and the old Ral Partha Demon Tree, with added branches stolen from more of the WS trees.

My only reservation with Woodland Scenics trees is, how well do they hold up as far as using them while gaming. It's one thing to have a scenery tree on a model railroad, where you don't have much contact with the tree, but with gaming, even just setting up the terrain and putting it away is a whole lot more handling than the trees are supposed to get.

Any experience with them Grump? By the way, I really like the look of the Woodland Scenics trees, especially the Supertrees, at least I think that's the name, but like I said, how well do they hold up to all that handling?

I've done quite a bit of scenery myself over the years, but mostly on the afore mentioned model railroad or military miniature diarama, so as you know, that doesn't get handled to often!

I think for use in gaming though, I'd be sealing with some form of dullcoat as well. I know the hairspray trick, but if it stays tacky, you're just looking to get a build up of dust!

Been flocking the bases of my Necron army lately, but mostly I'm using dirt and gravel kind of mix. I do have a couple that have grass on their bases, but that's not really the kind of look I want for my Necrons. A few even have pieces of Plastruc I-beams sticking out of the base to look like building wreckage.

I've decided I need to buy and waste a box of Space Marines so that I can get the right parts for using on other bases! So I know what you're saying about adding little details.

But like I said, thanks for the usage info. Nice to know that some of your trees have lasted that long!
