Hey, everyone, just got introduced to the company today over on the PP forums. Thought I'd come here and take a look around, and, so far, I like what I see.

I noticed that there's a largish gathering of WM/Hordes players around here and was wondering what kinds of obstacles there are to using this terrain for PP games?

Obviously, there's the support problem, what with PP stuff being quite a bit heavier than your average mini game collection. I've guessed that foamcore is the way to go, but wondered if there were any tutorials or something that might show how to best build the terrain here to stand up to some heavyweight figs!

The biggest issue I ran into is that the cardstock on it's own, will not hold the heavy jacks. YOu will need to have support, like foam core to strengthen the pieces that will hold the Jacks. Most of the warcaster and infrantry models are good but the Warjacks and beasts are just too freakin' heavy.

Some of the sets, like PCON, have instructions for using fosm core with it. There is no real trick to it, just cut the foam core a little smaller than the piece, depending on the set, glue, burnish, etc., and you are done.

It can seem daughting at first, but it really isn't.

;ust remember that you won't be an expert the first time around, so don't sweat it.

And that's the coolest thing about cardstock terrain, if you mess up, just reprint.

I have stated before that these instructions for reinforcing props, buildings, terrain, and whatnot are perfect for not only Matboard (which I use), but also Foamcore, and Balsa wood. Both are complete and come with descriptive pictures to speed things along, hope you find them useful. There is another post somewhere that shows you how to butt corners together in a different way, using Foamcore, but I have no idea where or who did it as it's been around six months or more since I seen it .

Neither will need to be done this extensive but you will find lots of useful information on reinforcing cardstock. I do recommend you look into spray adhesive if you plan on doing lots of ground tiles and walls, currently I use gluesticks myself.

Edit: as both Aleph13 and CcotD have pointed out though, with the right type of reinforcement you can pretty much put the heaviest pieces on the smallest amount of cardstock (ie; , , and if that still doesn't impress you , all are nothing more than cardstock either . (sorry for the sideways pics )

I haven't played WM in some time, but when I do, it's Khador!

Obviously, the Khador Heavy Jacks are among the heaviest minis, and I've found that cardstock will be able to support the weight, as long as you have internal bracing.

That may take the form of foamcore, but if you have a shorter hollow piece that you don't need to see the inside of, you can use more cardstock on the inside for supports.

Either way, I've had no problems.

I'll certainly be starting on something next week some time, and I'll try to get pictures up of our finished products, too.

EDIT: So much for the "printing off and reading". I didn't realize it was a board post. Have you ever thought about making a .pdf file of your instructions? You could even include photos.

Well, my friendly LGS owner purchased the ArenaWorks set, so it looks like I'm jumping in w/ both feet!

Man, there's a lot of stuff to print, is there a good progression to follow when building these things, or is it just "Well, I feel like making some buildings today."?

Oh, and SD, if you can just get me the text files, I may be able to piece it all together while I'm at work. I have several Word Processing programs available to me, and Adobe Acrobat - not to mention free time at work.
