On a recent project I decided to try using a spray sealer, because my printer doesn't use color fast ink.

I used Krylon UV resistant clear acrylic coating. It was easy to use, no smearing of the textures or drips. It drys in 15 minutes and can be handled after 2 hours. I used the gloss version, but it didn't make it shiny or anything. I haven't seen any color change either but I've heard that can take a couple years.

It seems to improve the water resistance alot. But I haven't destroyed anything to test it so I cannot say its water proof.

It does smell like spray paint though, but I hope that fades.

I also wonder if touching it can transfer any chemicals. Something I'm a bit worried about given how often people snack while gaming. Anyone know?

This is a good idea! That would prevent a bunch of re-print/re-builds. Question: is this polyurethane or acrylic???

As a miniature painter I use a lot of poly and a bit of outside, air drying greatly helps reduce the smell.

Yeah, I expect the smell to fade. It does for the primer I use on figures and models.

I have used a few spray seallers on some of Mels stuff i really thought came out good.
i did not have any probelms on ink jet ink running, or smell after a bit of time passed. It helped the model hold up to punishement, and gave it a nice look. It formed a pretty decent hard shell for it.
