So... I lay down some sheckles for DungeonWorks (because the freebie dungeon entrance is so cool) and CastleWorks (because it's cheap).
Then my printer (the aforementioned HP 932c) starts grinding away... I blithely feed it paper and ink, hoping it doesn't attack me, and when all is said and done, I take a good look at my print-outs...
They're all chopped.
No problem... Lots of people must have an HP, and have encounted this problem before, so I come here to the forums, and get pointed to a contest-winning thread... Click the Graphics Select button! Running up Adobe Acrobat Reader v6, I look for said button. My heart shatters as I realize I've been lied to like a young boy before Sunday School.
What button? The closest thing I found is "Image Select", which selects the entire sheet, or, through some demonic incantations, selects a rectangle... Unlike the post promised, the entire page still prints.
What gives?
Short of taking a screenshot and pasting this into something in IrfanView, is there another, reasonable work around that, y'know, works?

I have the same printer, I will check this evening and reply on how to select just the parts you want to print. There are only a couple of pages that do this, and Denny's later stuff doesn't seem to have this problem (at least I havn't noticed it).

Sorry to hear about your HP troubles. Im going to suggest that before you do anything visit the HP website and update your printer drivers. Unfortunately HP's have a bizzare habit of cutting off margins and causing headaches.
In adobe acrobat "reader" there is a button called the "graphic select tool". This button is located on the upper left hand side of the tool bar, just to the right of the "T" text select tool. Basically you draw a box around the item you wish to print only. Once you have selected the area you wish to print simply right click inside the image and select "print".This should do the same job as the crop tool. If none of that works, I would suggest throwing your printer out the window and buying an Epson.
All model sets after CastleWorks and DungeonWorks (the first two sets released) are generally universally printer friendly but it is impossible to have 100% compatibility with all printers made. Those two sets really pushed the page boundaries but were still printable on 90% of printers. Every printer has its own quirky margin settings and incompatibilities happen. In reality I have recieved very few complaints regarding printer issues and I can only do so much in this regard. If anyone has anymore words of advice for Xizar please lend a sentence. Let me know if any of this helps.

I look forward to your advice, cwiles.
Denny, my version of Acrobat Reader has a button entitled "Select Image". This button does not function as described in other posts. When I try to select a single cut-out, the entire page is selected.
I *think* however with some use of the "Print Current View" option under the Print Range section of the Print Dialog, along with Auto Center and Rotate, I *might* be able to get some of the more recalcitrant cut-outs in DungeonWorks to print as desired.
I do not, however, believe that this will work with the CastleWorks sheets that give problems, as they are just too big. I'll try them later this weekend, to see if it gives good results.
Are there any plans to update the old version of CastleWorks? If not, are HP-users going to be left out in the cold, our pennies thrown as pearls before swine?

I'm almost certain a few HP users out there found a solution to this problem…anyone? Ferris, Ferris, Ferris. Its strange that the "graphics select tool" isn’t working for you (have you updated to the new version of reader?). I suppose if all else fails you could use the "fit to page" option. This will shrink the models but in the case of CastleWorks I don’t think it will have a huge impact (not a recommended step on DungeonWorks though).
There is a new “version” of CastleWorks coming out in December called “CastleWorks Ultimate”. This will be a much expanded and vastly improved castle set (I’ve learned a thing or two since last year). The set will include a large array of walls, towers, siege weapons and much more. If you are still having problems with your HP by that time give me a shout and I’ll do everything I can to compensate you
I think what you guys want (with Acrobat Reader 6.0) is the "Snapshot Tool" which is on the Basic toolbar; if you've twiddled the toolbar settings it might not be visible. Click it, draw a box around what you want to print, click print, and select "selected graphic" from the print dialog.
I've used it to print only certain models or parts of a model from a full page. Creative use of "auto-rotate and center" in the print dialog and the page size settings in your printer properties can save having to waste a full sheet of card if you mis-cut or poorly glue one part of a model.
Hope that helps.

I had a completely different problem with my HP 1210. Halfway through Castleworks it started 'squealing like a pig', then while printing up Village works it froze up entirely.
I am happy to say that fixing the problem took about 1 minute while I vicously attacked the poor thing with a can of WD 40. Apparently the thicker cardstock had rubbed the lubricant off of the rollers... (There is nothing like fixing a problem quickly and with common sense to bolster your self confidence... )
The Auld Grump, who now keeps a can of WD 40 in the desk drawer for when the problem recurs.

Sorry about the delay... Wife and I were working on the house all weekend. Open the file using Acrobat reader 6, then use the snapshot button to select the area you want to print when this is done it will tell you that the area you have selected has been copied to the clipboard. Now right click inside the area you have selected and click print. With the HP 932c there are a couple of options on by default that you will want to turn off. After hitting print, it will bring up the print window, make sure that "Page scaling" is set to none and un-check "Auto-Rotate and Center". You should then get just the part that you are trying to print. I know that the HP's don't do Denny's stuff perfect (margin issues), but after 9 years working tech support for Intel, Lockheed Martin, and Arizona State (no ASU jokes please), I feel that this is a small price to pay for the reliability.
