Hmmm, mono adhesive, double sided tape, and crack 'n' peel paper have all been mentioned in seperate topics, having a topic to gather things like this together migh not be a bad idea.

And to add another odd tool to the mix - a ball point pen that has run completely dry is rather handy for scoring index paper to make it easier to fold, just line a straight edge up with the fold line, the draw the empty pen down the line while pressing down firmly.

I have read your suggestion about using pennies and they work fine for larger items. But for some of the smaller props I have been using fishing sinkers hammered to the desired shape and size. They work great as far as I am concerned for weighting down the thrones, alters, braziers, and various other smaller props. Hope this idea/suggestion helps.

This is a little tip for anyone working on a Pro Masterboard.  Get a rotary cutter for the Velcro!  I was able to cut up 2 20' lengths of Velcro and cover 3.5' x 3.5' in about 2 hours.  The rotary cutter saved me hours of work with scissors and a lot of money in avoiding the pre-cut tabs.  

I'm new to this community (I saw Luthyr's post about the Secret of Skull Cove preview pics and after I picked up my jaw I headed on over here). I'm also new to cardmodeling, but I've picked up a copule of tools that've been really helplful that I havne't seen mentioned here.

The first and best find has been my new scoring tool of choice a wax carver that's also known as a LeCron #13. It kind of looks like a surgeon's scalpel, but I've dulled it so that it doesn't cut the paper it mearly compresses the paper and produces a nice clean fold. Almost as good as using a dull Xacto blade, but with less risk of cutting the paper. I picked mine up from Shor's catalog although I've seen them eslewhere on the Net.

The other tool is something I've borrowed from the kitchen at work. It's a wooden cofee stirer. It's thinner than a craft stick and spreads the craft glue that I use really well like a putty knife, which allows me to apply a very thin layer pretty much wherever I want to.  The only down side is that I haven't been able to find them anywhere outside of work and my co-workers look at me funny when I grab a handfull evey now and again!

I've got a tool similar to your LeCron, only mine is wooden and (I believe) designed for ceramic sculpting. I've only tried it a couple of times and had okay results; I'm kinda lazy so I usually just end up holding on to the X-Acto and making my scores.

As for the coffee stir sticks, if you're talking about the thin birch kind about 1mm thick and 5-6mm wide, you could probably find them in craft stores, but also in office supply stores (a la Staples) in the "lunchroom supplies" area. I know we sell them at the office supply wholesaler I work at, in boxes of 500 or somesuch.

And they are handy dandy for modeling purposes as well, measuring almost exactly a scale foot across. (Picket fences, planking, and even for strengthening cardstock structures.)

And you can indeed find them in Staples. You can also locate them in Sam's Club in much the same area.

I started with one of those wooden ceramic tools, but the edge bent after a couple of models  :'( When I found the metal equivlant, I was really stoked. The only downside was the merchant who had them had a $25 minimum order, so I had to strong arm a few friends to join in  ;D

I do a good chunk of modeling on the train in the afternoon and I've gotten a few strange looks when I pull out the LeCron as it looks eerily like a scalpel  ;D

As for the coffee stirrers, yeah that sounds like them. I had checked at Office Depot and they didn't have them only the plastic straw kind. I'll go check Staples as there's one in the shopping center across the street from work.

I'm new to cardmodeling, so I'm still slowly finding all of the different pieces to this wide community. I'm mostly a sci-fi guy, but I really like what I see here at Worldworks. I'm going to be picking up the Skull Cove set as soon as it appears on RPGNow and I don't even have any gaming reason to do so. It just screams COOL! Even my wife thought it looked great!
