OK so I don't know were to post this but I have a question. I just bought my first file. I got the hellworks. I plan on using it for scenes for my chaos army.

My first question is that the file comes with different scales of 1 inch, 1 point 5 inch and gridless. I looked through out the forum but which one do I print? I don't want to waste a bunch of ink or cardstock. I believe that games workshop 40k models are 25 mm scale.

My second question is about printing and mounting. I read in some places about print on cardstock and cut and fold and then on others to print on cardstock and glue to foamboard and then cut and fold but it would seem hard to fold foamboard in half.

any help would be appreciated

Hellworks is a great set.

For 25mm, I'd recommend either 1 inch or gridless, based on whether or not you want the grid to show up. I don't think 40k usually uses a grid does it? If not, go gridless.

Cardstock creations, like the bridges, skulls, etc, you want to print onto cardstock, the score, cut, fold, edge then glue (usually in that order).

Cardstock/foamcore pieces, like floors, you want to cut the cardstock then glue to the foamcore, then cut again. Foamcore doesn't fold so well.

Hey berrythomas! Before you begin to do anything it is strongly recommended you take some time to familiarize yourself with the product and the process. Please watch all the tutorial videos and browse through the forum's various tutorial threads until you feel you're ready. And of course if you still have issues, don't hesitate to ask! Now on to your specific questions:

1) The scale references apply strictly to groundtile size and the grid on the tiles, it has nothing to do with anything else and there's no difference in the scaling of the actual artwork. It's meant to provide different options to people who play different games (D&D uses a 1" grid, Heroclix a 1.5" grid, etc). As 40k is a game without a ground grid, I recommend you go gridless.

2) Foamboard (aka foam core) is (again) only for groundtiles. Props, walls, etc are strictly made out of cardstock. On the subject of groundtiles however, we actually recommend you get some label paper (available at all good office supply stores) to use for your groundtile templates, as it will not only be faster and easier than gluing down cardstock, it will also prevent warping.

if you play 40K...print gridless. Playing on a gridded battlefield, in a game where estimating range is part of the game....um, no.

thank you so much for the quick replies. I have alot to look foward to now and know what to get at hobby lobby. Your right about 6th including pre-measure but I think that gridless will look better for display. I will post pictures as they get done
