What I did was glue the top on, using scotch tape on the inside to hold the glued surfaces in place. I didn't try to do it all at once, just a few little sections every time I sat down to model. This let me keep focused on making small joins perfect rather than trying to get it all to hold still at once.

Then, instead of cutting out a bottom, I just glued the thing to a blank sheet of cardstock, then cut around it.

I've done something similar on another part before. Its should work fine. So long as you leave a wide enough ring around the edges I think you might not even need to add the 2nd layer of base.

I thought that too LD2062, especially for smaller hills. But for hills with a larger top surface area that require internal support posts, I think it would be best to enclose the bottom to maintain integrity. Thanks for the help. These forums are such a great resource!

Good point. I'm still building more trees, so I haven't started making the large hills. I'd forgotten about the internal supports.

This is further complicated by the fact that I have to alter the contrast and brightness of hinterlands to get it to print properly on my printer. So I actually need to do 2 complete versions of the kitbash. 1 for my personal use and one done for submission. This takes an unfortunate number of test prints of trees. But I'm a frugal person so I feel compelled to actually build all but the horrible ones.

I'm also looking for some feedback on the tree colors from people who print hinterlands normally. I need people to print up the sample page and tell me which colors I should submit. I need at least 1 brown, orange, yellow and red.
