I've only made a couple of simple decidouse ones and the free hand cutting is killing me.

Yes, I was very sad I'd already made my Hinterlands trees when I got my robo. The robo made the Wildwood dead trees *much* easier...

Don't, repeat don't, worry about following the outline correctly.

Just cut the trees out roughly, making sure you remove all the white space.
Not only does this make cutting them out miles easier; the variations that result actually look better on the table.

Also, (if you aren't already doing this) make sure you glue the tree first, then cut - no point doing two cuts when one will do.
