Please bare in mind I am very new to this. Newer than new in fact since I have never done any kind of paper modelling. Plus I have the equivalent of 10 thumbs.

My budget is quite limted for now - at least until I decide whether or not I enjoy doing this.

I'm trying to put everything I need together, were I to purchase everything (from ruler, blade and glue to the TLX set I want and foamcore...). I need to get all this online if possible (as I assume online prices would be cheaper).

Everything is fairly straightforward except for the foamcore.

Anyway... a few questions:

1) any advice on where to purchase my foamcore? At this point, sadly, I would value low cost over high quality.

2) what is considered a good value-per-sheet?

3) is foamcore and foam board the same thing?

4) how much foamcore do I need to build everything in, say, Lost Halls of Dwarven Kings? I realize one would probably not build everything or would build multiples of some of the tiles. A general idea, even vague, if you can muster one would be great.

5) would this be a good start?

I get my foamcore free, I go to the local framing guy who hands me a pile of offcuts, all of which have been big enough to cut rows of tiles from. Have you guys got framing businesses nearby? Doesn't hurt to ask them for their offcuts, that stuff all ends up in the bin otherwise anyway.

This is a for what it's worth type reply. I bought some white foamcore from Dollar Tree a while back, dimensions being 20" x 30" x 3/16". It seems logical that the black foamcore would be the same thickness (3/16"), but logic does not seem to count much any more.

Went to dollar tree and they did not have the black foam in stock so I ended up buying a few sheets of white. Not sure why black is advised since I believe I will end up needing to edge anyway.

I have almost everything. I just need to get my cardstock and buy a kit and I am ready to print!
