Actually, someone is working on middle eastern buildings right now, just not for WWG. Unfortunately, I can't mention their name or provide a link due to WWG rules. Since it's not competing with WWG, I wonder if an exception can be made? Otherwise, you will need to search around.

Just wondering if Denny had a chance to take a look at the link I sent. The set continues to develop and is shaping up nicely.

As far as Arenaworks is concerned, I'll admit that I had never really looked at the set before. After Aleph13 suggested we do so, I did, and from the promo photos the set has some great sandy ground textures, and some nice little touches like the market stall... perfect for a middle eastern plaza.

Yeah, his other models are all free, but the desert ones he is putting a lot of time, thought and effort into, with the hopes of selling it. I'm pleased to see that he is incorporating some of the suggestions I sent him

I would love to link to it, but until Denny gives the okay (if he does) then I can only tell you if you contact me privately. It doesn't compete with WWG, yet, but WWG may have plans for something like this that is as yet unannounced...

Since others seem to know about it, without giving anything away, what are your thoughts on the set so far? Are we allowed to discuss it without linking or mentioning names?

Since i stumbled on this over on another site (not his), where he was talking about the development i have been keeping an eye on this set, i think they will be perfect for Tatooine buildings. (Mos Espa, Mos Esliy etc) If they are at all a decent price i'll be getting them.

The price will be key. I haven't heard anything on expected pricepoint... or even the entire plan for what will go into the set. Ghenghis, have you heard anything else?

*EDIT* I have just found it - Ok, it's different, in the sense that no one is doing anything ihis style but is no WWG. Upon buying a Urban buildings set that was not Mayhem (long before the Streets were released), after seeing the files I knew at the time I would never print them. I still curse myself for wasting my money. I feel that it's good the the chap in question to do this for himself but I know that WWG will do it better - finially.

If and when WWG does do something similar, I will snap it up, but in the meantime I think this project is coming along nicely.

I used to use another dark street set before WWG released SOM and still use some of their buildings. The texture isn't as good, but they are still very good in their own right and better than most other stuff out there. Until WWG has everything covered, I'm happy to mix and match as needed.

An Arabian/middle east set would be great, I just go back from Iraq a few months ago and can say from personal experience that there are some beautiful sights over there. Many of the mosque and palaces have a more old world (and definitely Arabian) feel and look to them. To see them next to the more prevalent contemporary architecture dose make for some impressive sights.
