Too true about Elven stuff being too narrowly focused for an ExteriorWorks set. That means you have two options: terrain only (sorry, but this is not a set which would likely compete well with plastic cake decorations, in the terrain area of the market), or a set which contains stuff for multiple forest-dwelling races (this could make the set either too stunted, with too few items to draw enough interest from the market, or it would become a very large set, with items for the most popular races featured, making it very expensive).

Sorry, Denny and Comany, but a set which offers just trees, hills, and a few outdoor, "natural" terrain pieces, would not, IMO, be a hot seller. The strengths of WorldWorks is in creating more complex terrain pieces. I can buy 100 plastic trees for $10 (probably less...), and these will look better than any card stock tree, at any price. ExteriorWorks needs to have something not already available.

If you can come up with something unique, that no one else has, then Exteriorworks will fly. If you cover the mundane, you will need to do so in such a way as to make it stand out in a crowd of look-alikes. Best of luck on it. Cheers!

ArenaWorks has good "dusty ground" tiles (they're desert, but can easily be repurposed).

SW: Skull Cove has a wide variety of sand (would be good dusty ground as well), shore, ocean/lake/water, river and lava tiles. Pretty much the best outdoor tiles WWG has done to date.



And for that matter .....

CaveWorks has dirt/rock tiles, a crevasse, reflecting pool, lava, water and waterfall tiles.

DW: Classic has stone tiles, plus a well, a different crevasse, and various pits, wells, etc.

DW: Gothic Realms has variant stone tiles, plus a few other patterns, such as a checkboard, magic circle (on the stone), a skeleton on the stone floor, and various colored sewer pools.

IW: Castles & Keeps has yet another stone floor, a different magic circle, another checkboard (a cool pattern), and a patterend stone floor.

IW: Pubs & Inns has a wood floor tile.

SW: Maiden has a large variety of ocean tiles.

Siegeworks doesn't have any tiles, but the trenches are pretty cool and flexible.

VillageWorks has dirt and grass tiles, along with a bog, pond and river tiles.

Thats great...Ill need to check into skull cove some more...I just need some large generic ground tiles that i can use for table top gaming or to set up "village A" or "city D" on I have grand plans for these models and I cant wait to get some pics posted...anyways thanks for your help.

I just got DF. I bought it solely because the tree looked cool. I was excited the moment I saw you could stand a fig inside it! Boy am I happy. Not only is the tree cool, but a lot of the other stuff is darn handy and, of course, very cool. I see many sets I'm going to have to get, but I need to space it out a bit or I will have so much to build I will never get it done.

I am eagerly awaiting D&D 4.0 ever since I was running in a SAGA campaign and said to my other veteran gaming buds (since '79) THIS is how fantasy should play! Now they are adapting 4.0 to a great degree like SAGA and all that I have seen looks like I will not be let down. My other main use for the WW sets is Warmachine. I am finding all the WW products just great!

I'm also quite pleased to hear that you're happy with 'em. WorldWorks prides itself on having great looking minis, but I wanted to be sure it would also be something that would be usable on the gaming table.

There's a ton of different options for trees out there, but invariably they involve setting a mini beside, under, or off the table (or balancing it precariously) and saying it's "up in the tree". It was important to me that we have something that could get past this problem.

I am about to start building some tonight. Looking at the tree I can see it will be great for variety's sake to cut some of them in three sections, so the top can serve as a small bush and the middle and bottom sections can represent larger bushes.

In Warmachine we build a large "Woods" base and then stand a few tree models in it which we can then move around as figures move through the area; the large warjacks take up too much space to try and fix any trees to the base. While I am talking about Warmchine, one reason I couldn't use the game board layouts that you offer is that they all have a grid superimposed on them, this is great for RPing, but does not work for Warmachine where a critical part of the game is estimating ranges and command radii. This is unfortunate as I think they would make some Kick-%$# tables. Oh well, 4.0 will be out soon enough and then my Warmachine armies will have to stand down for a spell...

Not all sets have that grind imprinted on them. Check the set descriptions look for ones that mention "gridless". Most of the newer set have gridless, 1" and 1.5"

Also check the kitbashes, I do believe some terrain tiles are availible stand alone.
