My skills are far from Mad, but here's my first go at a stylish ride for the post-apocalyptic wastelands: as inspired by this, the Landmaster from Damnation Alley: |

That's a neat conversion! It makes me want to build one for myself. |

That's pretty good, actually. Net time, you may want to lop off some of the cab and the first section of the 'cargo' area, but it's a pretty good resemblance as it is. ![]() |

Good point; I'll see what shaving off the door section of the front pod does on the next build; hopefully, that will also feature a working rear ramp/cargo area, too. |

I recognized the model for what it was before I got to the picture were you said ti was inspired by the Damnation LandMaster. So even if not perfect, it was plenty close enough ![]() |

Nice concept on that. The Landmaster has always been one of my favorite SF vehicles. (Trivia: Anyone else remember when it guest-starred in an episode of Chris Elliot's TV show "Get a Life"? It was a giant robo-newspaper tosser with which Chris went into head-to-bumper competition in the episode "Paperboy 2000".) However, color me stupid, but where did you snatch the wheel groups? I don't recognize them from any of the other sets... I had 2 other thoughts for kitbashes based on the Onager: The "V" air-shuttle; and a futuristic train -a la the Disney Monorail and/or the subshuttle subterranean transport from Roddenberry's TV pilot-movie "Genesis II". [Gee, am I a classic TV geek? Nah, couldn't be...] |

I actually do remember that episode, in fact. I'm not a huge fan of Chris Elliott, but I'm certainly warming up to his daughter, Abby. In any case, the wheel clusters are Photoshoped versions of the Onager treads, reduced to two wheels and duplicated over one another three times. It wasn't the hardest part of the build (I'm looking at you, turret), but it did involve a bit of math to get the treads to line up properly. P.S.: Didn't you mean Planet Earth? It's astonishing how much Gene loved the name "Dylan Hunt". |

Actually, "Planet Earth" was Roddenberry's 2nd(!) go at that concept - "Genesis II" being the first - same John Saxon as Dylan Hunt, same PAX (though "G2" had Pax hidden underground while "PE" had PAX above ground), same subsystem transport. Unfortunate that the series concept was never picked up. Curious that "Star Trek" also had 2 pilots. The first, "The Cage" was later recut/remade/embellished becoming the 2-parter "The Menagerie"; the 2nd was also slightly revamped and became the third episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before" with the funky uniform collars and Spock's wierd haircut and eyebrows. [Remember Majel Barrett as "Number 2" before she was cast as "Nurse Chapel"?] [...but all you Geeks knew that, right?] Sorry for the digression off-topic. |

New build; this one features a much easier build for the primary body, outrigger pods for the wheel casings, and a functional cargo bay so your long haired, anti-establishment second in command has a place to keep his motorcycle: |
