[Hope this is in the right place as I've got a couple different thoughts going here...] The Situation: Almost done with my "Maiden" Build (thought of naming her the "Maeve Jonas", but may save that for the greytone version). Working now on the masts with 3D yardarms. [Can someone tell me how the double-boom is supposed to work/fit together?] Then just have to outfit her (decorate) with furniture, guns and cargo... The Kitbash: For her diorama setting (a dock using the wood piers from Skull Cove), I am kitbashing a Loading Ramp - still in the GIMP graphic stage - using the front short wall of the merchant stall as the ramp floor and modifying the wood fence for the siderails. [Both components from Village Works...oh, yeah, I've been doing my research - ]. I'll send pics upon completion *soon* to see if there is any interest of this tidbit being submitted. The Question: What about the ship's longboat? a) What have any of you used? (I know there is the one in Skull Cove, but I'm not really hip with the white with blue trim coloring (clashes with the "Maiden"s beauty), and I don't have the skills yet to modify that. Have any of you kitbashed something else to use? b) Where should it be stowed aboard ship other than perhaps hanging off the stern? |

For the 3D yard arms what do you mean double boom? |

Thanks for the fast reply LD2062. Actually I guess it's the double sail boom I'm looking at (from the Maiden Accessory Set). After looking over the direction again carefully, I think I've figured it out... Again, thanks. |

I feel I must appologize to you all. It was not my intent on leaving you hanging on what has turned out to be an unintentional delay. My bad. With the "Gangway" graphics done, I tried to get it printed out to do the all important test build - and discovered that I did not have Open Office as I had thought (to convert from GIMP as suggested). So I am waiting on my new copy to arrive via the wonderful world of snail-mail. I tried to directly convert the GIMP to PDF and had troubles... what eventually came out was only about half-size - too small to work with. ... *Soon* |

Would love to hear the solution to the GIMP to PDF problem - that's right where I gave up on kitbashing. |

I just make pdfs right in GIMP. I use CutePDFWriter. To make a GIMP image a pdf all I do is go to print and select CutePDFWriter rather than one of my printers in the select printer field of the print window. Its been years since I downloaded it so I cannot be sure, but here is what comes up looking on google: http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp |

Yes, CutePDFWriter is a good little program to make a pdf. It installs as a virtual printer and, as LD2062 stated, you choose it when you want to print. Another handy program is PDFTK Builder. It lets you split a large pdf into individual pages or combine multiple pdf's into one pdf. |
