Has anyone done any work towards making ruined walls in a fantasy setting? The only ruined walls I'm aware of are from Lost Halls. I used that template to make a Himmelveil Streets wall: It's OK. I didn't work too hard on it - added some quick cracks, grimed up the wall, and plunked some debris at the base. Only did the one type of wall. When I get home tonight, I might try modifying the robo cutter files to chop this wall into two pieces, so I can have some wall segments that dangle off of a post. I don't have any Mayhem Destroyed or DeadFall sets that I know have ruined walls/buildings. It'd be neat to at least have the geometry to aid in kitbashing (to maintain cutfile compatibility) Is there more stuff like this that I just am not recalling? I'm thinking of looking at making some ruins for The Garden (seems like the kind of place where there'd be ancient walls in *some* state of decay) and maybe someday do some busted Thoumont's walls. |

So much to do, so little time! This one will have to simmer in the background while I wrap up other pieces. I have been thinking about the ruins pieces. I like the idea, but I need there to be more than just two broken walls. I think I'm going to try to make broken walls in 3" and 6" formats using two different textures, and for each I'd like to be able to cut them into full-wall-length or half-wall-length pieces. Then I'll think about broken floors. Making the 6" broken floors should be relatively easy, if a little tedious trying to make debris lying around. I'm no texture artist, and I'm far from an expert with GIMP, so there's a lot of trial and error still going on. I want to make a broken bridge - there's a bridge wall that's designed to straddle a hallway tile. I'd like to chop the bridge into three pieces - two broken ends and a busted middle section that would just rest on the ground as scenery. Any other ideas about broken stuff related to Himmelveil Streets? I don't want to distract myself thinking about destroying Thoumont's right now. Too many other things to do. |
