Having now gotten a rhythm to packaging up kitbashes for submission, I'm wondering how proactive you folks can be in chiming in on kitbash "previews" as to the likelihood of their acceptance. For example, I've started working on some new Hinterland Forest river tiles, and many of the things I'm thinking of may turn out to be a real pain in the butt to do the all the grid formats. I'd rather not go through all the work to do it if there's something that would prevent the tiles from being accepted. Are you guys patrolling the forums enough that at some point in my threads I can post a set of preview pictures of what I'd like to include, and you guys could say "yes" or "no" before I pursue it as a full-blown kitbash? Does that seem like a reasonable way to go? I suppose I would understand if you'd rather not have the submission acceptance process handled out in the open. If that's the case, should I just submit a "kitbash preview" using the normal Contact Us channel? If I'm making tiles just for myself, I'd never make every grid style... |

While we do generally hang out on the forums quite a bit, I can't give you a definitive answer of "we can let you know 100% of the time." As for submission acceptance, that is largely dependent on the need of the bash. If you are planning something that is not useful for many people or too similar to existing product than it won't be considered. Other than that, if it fits the guidelines then it gets it's fair shake at acceptance once submitted. For instance, I can't think of a current submission that was/will be vetoed due to the idea, but probably half of the submissions are not currently viable due to guidelines (all grid types, cut lines everywhere needed, page layout correct, etc.). I hope that this answers your question. Also, we do and will try and give the bashers a heads up if something is way off for some reason, I just can't give you the 100% guarantee. |

In addition to what Talae said, the kitbash review process actually has two phases--the judges go over the submissions and narrow things down to a handful of candidates, which go through a staff review phase. There are a lot of variables that could work for or against any given kitbash, and quite a few of those variables don't come into play until well into the review process, and some of them aren't things that come up until the staff review phase. Long story short, it's not usually the idea that matters as much as it is the execution, and we can't really know how well a kitbash is executed until we've had a chance to look over the files, images, and text that come with it. |
