I just finished making the standees from the Citizens of Himmelveil II set. I'm much faster at making cutfiles now, compared to a couple days ago... Anyway, one thing I wanted to try out was using standees for scenery. I'd like to make a whole bunch of little things like this to help cover the corners and generally break up the flat landscape a bit. All I did was scrub up the standee bases from the CoH2 set, then find some reasonable looking images on the web. A fair bit of scaling and color adjusting, and what project would be complete without using the clone tool? Here's a shot of a building with some plants out front: Is it just me, or does that picture look like some old dude photobombed that shot? And, here's a lineup of the four types of plants I built: The colors for a couple of em were a bit too dark but that should be easy enough to fix. I'm no artist, so the fronts and backs are the same image. I'd like to see if I can use this simple technique to get some larger plants in there too, or more variety - maybe some 2d plants inside of a 3d planter box, for example. I need to give these things a larger black border around the images - they were designed like everyone has a machine cutter (though, let me tell you - with a machine cutter, you can get a couple dozen of these built in no time!) |

Ok I like it a lot. It's something like the bushes from hinterlands forests. I've never really thought of making standee props. |

I'm depleted of motivation, so I'm gonna post what I've got and let it go at that. It'll give me a time to step away from the paper for a while. Ugh. Can't attach it - it's too big. Here's a link via dropbox. |

Sorry. Yeah. There are cutfiles. I apparently copied the jpg rather than the studio file. Try again - I assume the dropbox link continues to work against the updated file. If not, let me know and I'll post a new link! |
