It feels weird to have no new kitbashes this week. I got used to coming back on a Tuesday to see what was fresh. Are there not enough submissions or is there another reason to move to bi-weekly? Arabin |

Grats Steve. I know the 1.5" crowd (poor hobbits) will enjoy that kitbash. Unfortunately it's not one for me as I only use the 1" grid or occassionally gridless if the terrain needs it. Are you working on anymore bashes? Arabin |

That kitbash was because somebody purchased a few kits thinking they supported 1.5" and then he discovered that the buildings were 7" squares, with little slivers of unusable space around him. I didn't want him to feel like he got "taken" by WWG so I told him he could print his stuff resized to 107% and that would get him a true 7.5" square building. Which then left him with a floor and a rooftop that then didn't work! So I offered to kitbash it for him. That was the Armoury set. He gave it a try, liked it, then said he was going to buy additional sets. He suggested I do the kitbashes "for real" because he would gladly pay for them. So I thought what the heck and did just that. I don't game using 1.5" grids myself, I'm strictly a 1" grid.
As to your question, I should submit the armory roof and floors I did for him as kitbashes as well. I HAVE submitted another kitbash, but was told it was probably too valuable to release as a kitbash (it might take away sales of the Streets of Mayhem set). It contained straight street tiles in five flavors (one without all four bits of trash, and then one with only one each of the four bits of trash). So combined with the original (which has 4 bits of trash) you now have six different straight street tiles - no more "pattern" to the trash on a long straight road. It also included a straight tile with the "driveway" stripe already in place, which required modification of the original straight section (removal of the grating and doctoring of the yellow stripe). In two versions, one with the driveway on one side, the other has it on both sides. I think that pair would be nice stand alone, especially if folks like making buildings with garage doors. Now it will look like a driveway leads to the door instead of driving over the sidewalk. So I can see them not wanting to release the 5 straight road sections as a set, but perhaps the two driveway pieces? Oh yeah, I also messed around with the curved road; removed the one bit of trash on one tile, and removed the angled bits in the concrete in both (those angled bits were throwing off my eyes when trying to see the 1" grid). And lets see, I also did a 7x7 1" grid concrete tile made up of sidewalk squares. I like my buildings to be more 5x5 sized, so the sidewalk can be 2 squares wide, and there's an ally between buildings. I needed a concrete pattern that matched the sidewalks. So when I plunk down a building in the center of this concrete tile, the sidewalk squares match up. But I don't know if any of that will ever see an official kit. |

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but with the talk about 'Chunky Mahyem' (1.5"), it ocurred to me that I have a set of Hollywood flat building supports and base templates (all based on 1.5" grid) that might make a good kitbash submission. Any thoughs one way or the other? |

Steve, while I would kill to get clean street tiles, I can see why WWG wouldn't want to release those as a kitbash. I hope they find a way to release more street tiles... but I see on other forums around the net, when someone needs roads, they drop $15 on the mayhem set. If they could pick up your straight roads for just a couple of dollars, a lot of them would just go for those. Fingers crossed the powers that be will figure out a way to expand our road options. And we don't know what we might find in the two upcoming Mayhem sets... I like the idea of having alleys beside the buildings, and can see shrinking a couple, but the offices would look a little too small for me unless they filled the entire tile. Arabin |
