Well, that is strange for sure. No such discoloration here. I wonder if it has anything to do with which version PDF you choose to save as? If I remember correctly the default on mine was v5 but I changed it to v7 or whatever the latest was. M BTW, here's the result of mine. Minor mods to Mel Ebbles' free hovertank thingie. Just playing around learning to mod stuff. [edit]Thanks, Slymoon. Ah, yeah. Come to think of it I made sure I was working in RGB not CMYK. Messing with any of that business could fix you up good - might have something to do with your magenta cast. Me, I don't trust all that real-world ink and such ![]() |

I work in RGB 8 bits/ channel and save as *.pdf with the default settings. ie: dont change it to CMYK or any ICC profiles Now what I know in photoshop is what I have learned over the past 10 years or so of doing. If someone has some additional input, please add. Edit: Nice, Mearrin69 |

Is it just my machine or should I expect Photoshop CS2 to use HALF A GIG of memory while working on a 200 dpi 8.5"x11" document? I'm going to have to upgrade or something. M edit: thanks Slymoon. Still sounds like mine's using too much. I'll have to look into it. |

Photoshop is a pig. layers add a ton of memory usage for example: the speedbike I am working on has roughly 31 layers all save for a handfull have effects attached to them. Although the saved *.psd file is under 2 megs the actual working file (as open in photoshop uses 28.1 megs. And if I manipulate the file. IE: add a filter sharped, blue or whatever it can easily use 250 megs while doing the operation. (I just looked. Sitting still my temp file is 178 megs. *wink*) Now, such small files shouldnt cause too many headaches. You really just have to get a feel of what operations take. Purging your history helps ( as long as you dont need to go back.) Also note, windows xp uses anywere from 120 megs - 220 megs of ram just running by itself. (depends on how thin your install is) If you are using a video card that uses shared ram it also uses system ram (ie: the vid card has none itself). So you can see depending on your system, yes a small photoshop file can choke your system. (note: I sometimes manipulate renderings in photoshop that are around 300-400 megs, as a static file. My office machine has 4 gigs of ram and it will tap the scratch disk easily during my work.) |
