Last night I wanted a break from cutting out rounded Shellendrak windows from foam core. I have been looking at the WormHole suff and so I started playing around with the Particle Bow and came up with an underside for the ship. The white underneath was just killing me. I realize you almost never see the underside but I couldn't resist the urge to mess with it. The underside is generic so it could work with either the Royals or Separatists version. I built two of them as a test and they turned out nicely. I also played with naming the ships. The one above has "Forty-Niner" on the side. White alone is a bit hard to read. I will probably try to outline the name in a dark grey maybe. I don't want the name to stick out like a sore thumb. I may take things a step further and come up with some designation number for the ships themselves. We shall see. I have a few more ideas for variations of this ship. Just thought I would share. -Audrey |

Next up we have a Particle Bow that has been heavily damaged and engines are off line. They just have life support and running lights. I figure it could be used in a scenario. -Audrey |

ok, not the best photography work. But here are some photos of the damaged Particlebow. I twisted the front end of the ship plus I also shortened one side of the stand which makes the ship lean further to one side than the other. It is far easier to tell that one ship is damaged from a regular ship in person than the not so great photos shown. -Audrey |

Ok, so I lied. My photoshop skills know no bounds, hahaha, yeah right, back to reality. Anyhow after reading your posts it had me thinking about how I could do it and something finally clicked about how to turn off the lights and remove the reflections. Below is a quick test I did to see if it would work. I also tried chipping the paint a bit. This is not a final example but definitely a step in the right direction. What do you think? You all are such task masters  .

Niiice. I eagerly await the final result. On my own I probably would've selected just the lit areas and shifted the color levels around until the blue was gone and maybe tossed in a little pinch of cloning work. How did you do it? |

I think the base should be a simple star field rather than a faction specific template. Would give it that floating derelict feel

I think I finally have the derelict particle bow finished. No running lights, no power, damaged ship, chipped paint, and eventually a blank base that is just the stars and space. You will noticed I also added a red version. I am not sure of the exact red the separatists use, but I will check it when WormHole is released. I guess it is time to get back to Shellendrak Manor for now. Once WormHole comes out I will look at creating derelict ships for a 6 types and submit that as a kit bash. -Audrey |

Those look absolutely stunning. If you want a way to pick out the names of ships, you could swipe a cue from Firefly and have the name of the ship spotlighted. It looks like there's a "knob" just below where you have the name text that could easily serve as the origin point for a spotlight. |
