Hey all,

So I'm new here, and just picked up Wormhole and have already started my own kitbash for the control carrier. This post is basically a heads up to those who might have the idea to do the same thing.

I've already added a bottom for the ship and plan on trying to give the top side some more 3D elements, similar to the carrier. I know that I'll have to alter the contsruction a bit, but I have that worked out so far. Here's a preview of what I have so far.

Just a quick note (bash looks great by the way): I've edited your image so that it cannot be copied or utilized without purchasing the actual game. As a general note to all bashers, please if you are upping pics of your work, be sure watermark your image with "Sample" and or distort the perspective of the image to prevent free sharing of the ships.

I'll write up a general kitbash submission guideline specific to Wormhole. Briefly; a successful submission offers additions to original models without giving away the entire model itself. In other words the bash must require the user to own the core product in some form and only offer elements which enhance or change the original.

Here's what I have now, the build is a little crude, but it is just a prototype. Once I build another one cleaner and with a base, I post another (better) pic.

I love the chunky look of that Control Corvette!

That's a very cool mod to the Control Corvette. The Control Corvette is my favorite design in the Wormhole release, so I'm excited to try some variants on it. Did you just use a resized/cut-down version of the "Top Flight Bridge" strip from the Convoy Carrier model as the riser?

The Control Corvette is one of the ships i was still hoping to get a good look at in it's "native" form, any chance dirkgent001, or some one else can post the un modded ship?

What you see is what you get:

I must say the "Moded" version works much more for me.
The control corvette and the particle bow are just too flat for me.

The Kitbashs/mods however are really making the ships more atractive, to this on the fence customer add in some 3D engines (like were done for the Particle Bow in another thread) on this and it would be one very nice looking ship, "2.5D" just does so little for me.

While I tend to agree, more 3D is nicer/cooler, actually constructing a 3D control corvette can be a bit fiddly, as it is a small ship. I totally understand keeping it simple for the sake of making the game more approachable to those not familiar with card stock modeling. I've already read about people's "fears" of putting these things together.

And of course, kitbashes will come out that will enhance the look of the ships.

And to address Jason's question,

I did indeed used the carrier's "top flight deck" art and sized it down to fit the geometry of the control corvette.

This looks excellent!

I think this might be getting beyond the realm of "Kitbash" but here's my latest incarnation of the Control Corvette

This looks to be exactly in the realm of kitbash as far as I am concerned. It looks wonderful. Possibly my favourite wormhole ship

I agree, definitely a good kitbash. Its great, be sure to submit it. I think its got the best real ship look. I can't wait to see what gets done with the larger ships.

That looks great. More fiddly or not, I'd buy that as Kitbash.

i have to aggre with the last posts this is definately worth posting as a kitbash if nothing else it gives you a different version of the same ship type.

you find that in most navies, the older ships are staight from the original drawings , then as time moves on the shipt type changes to meet the needs of the fleet

Well, I'm just working on a set of instructions for the kitbash submission, hopefully by this weekend I can get a PDF to Aubrey.

I love doing this sorta stuff, and already have plans for the Carrier, and yet, part of me just needs to build a fleet and start playing. I don't know what's more fun, making kitbashes or playing the intended game.

Um, anything ever happen with this idea? I would love to get my hands on this KB, I built my particlebows using the standard 2D versions and then slowly replaced them with the 3D ones and would really love to do the same with the corvettes now
