Any chance to have some mixed, since leaves on trees change at different rates? Some green, brown, yellow, orange, red, etc., on the same tree.

Well I can play with it later tonight, but I think it might require a degree of artistry I don't have. I'll post pics though.

Could you not layer the colours up and use masks at different levels of opaqueness?

I don't know how to use masks. Without them layering simply alters the colors. The method I used to change the leaves so far is useless. I simply cannot select an appropriate area to change. Its to small and complicated to use the path tool and I don't know how to use masks or filters to do the same thing.

Ah... then it's time to bring in DR999! Also you you should look for some tuts on this topic as it is a main feature. Personally I haven't the foggest on using the masking tool yet so I'm in the same boat as you.

I got a new camera, Canon powershot A590. So I decided to take some test shots before I waded through the 200 page manual. This is done on the camera's automatic setting then cropped and scaled down 50%. I don't even think its on macro. I'm pretty pleased with it.

Anyway, heres some of my custom printed trees from the kitbash. The 75% boost to contrast and brightness I used on the ground tiles doesn't work right for all the tree. So I've got to play around with it some more.

The work that you have done is very good. I like the variety of colors. They me would come very well for my new set. When you manage to equalize the color of the bases of some models it will be a great kitbash.

PD:That casuality. Your you have bought a new camera ... and I will buy it today or tomorrow. Mine broke last night while I take a few photos of my Watch tower...

Actually the color issue I'm having to for my personal ones. My printer doesn't deal well with hinterlands default colors. So I have to customize my own kitbash!

Since no one has requested a color change from the sample page, the submission trees are ready to go. Those trees use the original colors for the ground and wood, only the leaves are different.

Its ok to me. I like the variety of colors and it will be a very usefull kitbash to my sets...so i will wait to get it....well done.

Those trees look great. Are you going to submit them?

I'm going to submit some or all the ones that are on the test page. But all might be too many pages for 1 kitbash. So I need to check with Aubrey. But to get it ready for submission all I need to do is take a pic and right the description. I just haven't done it because Aubrey isn't there to process it right now.

I am looking forward to this kitbash. I would like to get it before all the leaves fall off here.

Well I'll send it first among the 3 I've got ready to go. But Aubrey isn't back and I know that there are kitbashes that were already accepted ahead of it. So I have no idea when it would actually be available.

I got a request for fall bushes. So I've been working on it. But for some reason I cannot get them to change colors like the trees did.

This is the best I could get. The yellow is ok, but its not a good red or orange.


On the other hand I'm thinking of using them as flowering summer bushes.

Those shrubs look great, LD. I could see putting them around in a park or suburban setting. They'd make an excellent addition to the KB section.

These colors are a bit off. The real ones are brighter more orange and more red. I did this low dpi sample page and they faded a bit. I'll post a better pic at some point.

The key is too turn down the leaf brightness before altering the colors. Now I need to figure out how to do brown.

I also got some blue ones that might work in a sci-fi setting. Although the grass might also need to be changed for that.

These look good but until we get them up on the Kitbash page please don't post them at actual size. I know you've gone the extra step and added a "sample" watermark but it doesn't really obscure the image in a way that prevents their usage. Sorry to be a pain.

No problem. Although these ones are also reduced to 72 dpi. But I'll swap the image for a reduced scale one.


Edit: I've reduced the size of both bush pics and I've added a more restrictive water mark.

Well I've sent in the fall trees kitbash. Because of the number of trees, each of which takes a full page, I had to make it 2 bashes. The fall trees I has # 3, 4, 5, 7. Fall trees II has #1, 2, 6, 8.

I've also been working on the bushes. Heres 9 of the 10 colors that I think are going to be submitted.

Those look nice, LD. Can't wait to see them in the kitbash section.

Excellent! Yoink. (little Simpsons reference ). Got it. This is an excellent kitbash, LD. I love the color variation of the leaves. I was working on the masterboard for my Shellendrak build last night. This trees are really gonna make the grounds look good. Great job and thanks, Andorax, for getting this bash posted posted so fast.

Im agree. Very nice kittbash and totally useful.

I'm going to try my hardest to assure that we see a regular weekly kitbash release from here forward. Mind you, in order for that to happen I'm going to need to get new kitbashes IN from you guys too.


As for posting this bash first off...it's mainly a matter of timelyness. Fall is underway, so the fall colors in the trees makes sense to get out the door right away.

I'm pleased to see it actually came out in 1 bash rather than 2.

Now I just need to put the finishing touches on the bushes bash as well.

Yeah, Bob. I agree that the fall leaves are a timely release. Though, looking at my yard, maybe a little late.

@LD: I'm lined up waiting for the bushes, too. They'll look great as decorative shrubs in the manor gardens. What would you think of making some hedges? I think a garden maze would be pretty cool to game. And how about some topiary shrubs? Those would be nice.

That's actually an old idea that Aubrey was looking into doing as a full-blown smaller set (which may, yet, happen...but NO idea if or when it will even start into development).
