Go with set pieces for a really large ship. If your players search/explore a alien ship I would love the feel of a really large ship more then a small alien corvete. If I would use it for roleplaying games I would maybe build a large fighterlike ship (maybe 2-3 Tiles) for the first contact, maybe the player could use it to enter the mothership. If you use it for tabletop I would definitly build some setpieces that are the main battle areas. Try to catch the feel of a laaaaarge ship. The machine room should be multilevel with bridges and such things. The bridge should be much bigger then the normal bridge, maybe with some sort of stairs (think enterprise bridge or a stardestroyer bridge) A central lift area with big storage halls where your marines could battle the gruesome aliens defenders. A large hangar area, maybe large enough to hold the fighter. |
