I have long admired the [url="http://www.wargamefoundry.com/"]Foundry Mini's[/url] website, but anyone can make a mini look good if they are a good painter.

Can anyone give a review of their figures? I'm interested in the WW2, Americana (Old West) and Street Violence lines.

Foundry figures are some of the best on the market. Their only issue is that they are closer to 25mm than the newer 28+mm. So they are a bit smaller (noticably) than most of the newer figures.

If you are going to mix and match ask here or on other forums and people can give you a good comparison.

Are you sold on foundry for wild west and WW2? There are other companies that are as good and much much cheaper.

Well my Google Foo smiled on me better than while I was at work.

I have found that there are other manufacturers, but who to trust?

If anyone has any recommendations for 25mm-30mm WW2 and Wild West figures, please post them.

I'll compose a list of what I find as well.

Well I was into the Wild West not long ago...we get a deal of her and get a hell lot of cowboys...It was what take me into SavageWorlds because I don't liked the GW Legend of the wild west (I wanted some more rpg...)

After that we buy a few artizan figures and we buy a few WWII for try one day to make a WWII scenery...for that same house...

Foundry is quite good only that there is a lot of diference between miniatures (I supose between old ones 25mm and last ones 28mm) so sometimes you put two togheter and are quite different in size..
I also win in ebay a lot of Street Violence...and they had the same problem that WW (Size) - but are quite good (If only I han time to paint...I paint a lot of WW to play 4 scenarys, a few pulp miniatures and then after I saw all the pewel I acumulated like...stopped...One day I have to returno to the drawing board...Practice made a better painter of a miniature-painter hatter...

So I only could recommend you both Artizan and Foundry...both quite good and good service...(Black tree desings also make WWII I have seen a few and also seems good but don't own them)

And for all the manufactures the last link...so find more yourself...but If you end buying hundreds of miniatures don't blame me

Let's see... you've already discovered Foundry. And I'll second Artizan for both Wild West and WW2. Hardly surprising, as Artizan is new output from a Foundry sculptor. BlackTree are nice as well for WW2.

Other makers-

Wild West

-I like WestWind Productions stuff, but admit some of it is more than a bit rough. I still like it.
-Dixon miniatures. Very hit or miss IMHO. Some look as good as Foundry. others... don't. To put it mildly.
-Iron Wind actually has some cartoony wild west stuff. I like the Bandito with the massive Sombrero.

WW2

-WestWind again. Same comment as above.
-Battle Honors (Honours?). Servicable, but rough.

If your looking for historical miniatures none has a range larger than Old Glory Miniatures.



Right now their 10mm WW2 figures are on sale. But they also have true 25mm WW1 and WW2 figures.

I have bought from them before. The customer service is very good. The detail is not as good as the Wargames Foundry but they are much better than alot of companies out there.

You would be hard pressed to find such a range of figures.

I have found a lot of manufacturers but you never know about quality or service. I've ordered from places where the pics looked good, but when you got the mini's there's too much flash, horible mold lines, etc.

Foundry's moderns are great. Lots of character and some good proportions and poses too.

Mark copplestone designed a lot of the best foundry stuff.

My only foundry's are Street Violence, and I LOVE them!

go for it an buy a horde. It is your best option with street violence from foundry. Granted you dont know what you will get in there, but the savings are well worth it.

to supplement the items there is the copplestone range of near-future. Really good figures. I have a ton of his figures for my "Back of Beyond"/Pulp gaming and love to paint them.

The SV's actually seem to be a bit closer to 30 at times, at least to my untrained eye. They fit great in WWG builds. Many figures are 28 from foot to eye on the dot, but some figures certainly run larger.

A horde is 50-60, yes.

I bought my (opened, unpainted) figures mostly at a discount from a fellow I found on bartertown. Barring a great deal like mine, a horde would be a good bet, with you buying an individual set or two if you find one that suits your fancy.

THere is a website somewhere that has the size for tons of ww2 figures but for the life of me I can't find it anymore... Personally I think the best among them would be Artizan, Bolt Action and Victory Force. But then I don't have them personally so can't tell you for sure...


For western figures, Foundry and Artizan looks to be the best.

For modern there is a whole bunch of manufacturers that do some nice work. This the area I'm interested in personally as I hunt for figures to add to my zombie food pile. I like the foundry and copplestone's ranges quite a bit. btw, Foundry's Street Violence horde is 50 figures. They are also interesting in that they have some big tall guys and some small guys so the height is not fixed. I liked it but some don't

In addition to the ones already mentioned,

TAG (The Assault Group) does a range of modern figures. Most are military, but there are some SWAT that you might find useful. Also there are terrorists, mafia and african militia that are in civilian clothes that you might want as well. They are nice people to deal with too.

Bobby Jackson did a small range of African american gangers called Thugz and they are pretty cool. You can get them from a variety of places, Tin Dictator being one of them.

RAFM has got a relatively new addition to their Cthullu range expanding it into modern times so there are some interesting modern figures in there. Be warned that their mail order side is not the best at communications and not particularly timely either. Took ages for the stuff to arrive and don't really respond to emails either.

Westwind is another I should mention, they have an extensive western collection in their Cowboy wars line and also nice figures for modern under their roadkill and superfigs lines. I like them personally but not every one likes their style. They are sculpted a bit more roughly and with a broader stroke than most. They also have WW2 figures but they are tiny from all reports.
