File corruption, when unable to recover anything, is always bad, bad, bad news.

Sorry to hear that. There seems to be a huge outbreak of new computer viruses lately, some which are just popping up way too fast for either McAffee or Norton to catch.

Windows XP. First time I've ever had a problem like this with it.

The virus actually corrupted the .exe files, not all the files. That included files needed for Windows to run properly so thats what messed up the file backup to the other drive. It seems like it sat dormant until I ran a virus scan (AVG). After I ran that, the computer just wouldn't log into Windows normally. I got it into safe mode and copied the files I wanted from my main drive to my secondary drive and everything seemed okay, so I reformatted. After that, I went to check the files again and they were all reading at 0 bytes. Anyway, the USB is probably just the mobo driver...

What the heck is going on? 3 of the drives in my raid array just sh%^ the big ones. Two were clicking and one actually had an acrid smell and oil or some sort of goo coming out under the seals.

Is this catching or something? Thank <insert name of your deity of choice> that it's a full stripped array, so I didn't lose anything. But the cost of replacing the SCSI drives is not gonna be easy. . So much any new gaming stuff..... or maybe I should replace it with an IDE Raid tower. Drives are definately cheaper.

So, I finally have my 2 page english assignment written, and I'm falling to sleep, when it dawns on me that I forgot to save. I persuade myself to get up for a second and save it. I click save as, but as I'm typing the filename, nothing changes! I go over and try to select the text, when all of the sudden, BAM Blue Screen Of Death!!!!! System autoreboots before I can read the BSOD, and my heart jumps into my throat. I got ZERO credit the last time I turned an assignment in late in English... (I'm a Freshman for christs sake!!) and this was not looking good. Halfway through the boot up, the system pops to a black screen with white text. "Non-Disk Error or Disk Error, replace and press any key to continue_" My heat is thumping as I slowly pull the CD from the CD drive. I press Z... nothing... A... nothing... AJSKLJWKLA... still nothing. At this point, I'm seconds from a breakdown. My comp was acting strange recently, but I really wasn't expecting a crash like this. I quickly wake up my parents in desperation. I fill them in, and my mom immeadiately asks me where the Del key is. I point it out to her, and her hands assume CTRL-ALT-DEL grip that is all to frequently necessary in stupid microsoft operating system. BAM, black screen. Booting Up. Nothing out of the ordinary. Sacretis profile selected. Word opened. RECOVERED DOCUMENT SAVED!!!

The day is once again saved by all knowing Mom...
