I'm interested in getting approximate stats for siege engines in my D&D game. Since there's a number of people here who know a lot about siege engines, I'd like their input on how big these things are.

Right now, in D&D there's the following big weapons:
Heavy Catapult: 5d6,, 200' increment, 100'minimum, crew 5
Light Catapult: 3d6, 150' increment, 100' minimum, crew 2
Ballista: 3d6, 120' increment, 0' minimum, crew 1
Cannon: 6d6, 300' increment, 100' minimum, crew 3

So there's 4 basic stats they show:
damage, range increment, minimum range and crew.

What I'd like is to also have size known (width, length, height).

From that info, I'd like to have the same size and range stats for real "typical" siege engines.

Once that is known, I can extrapolate what the damage should be for such engines. In theory, I can put the SiegeWorks Ultimate models in the same process and make D&D stats for them.

It's my assumption that size = damage, such that the bigger the machine, the more damage it does. I'll figure out the damage for myself, I'm just interested in knowing how big these things are. Obviously, there's a lot of variance. I think knowing some typical sizes, examples of BIG and SMALL would set the scale.

So I'm looking for stats on a weapon (catapult, trebuchet, ballista, cannon) with the following stats:
width, length, height, range, minimum range, crew

All the stats for D&D 3.5 siege engines are in the SRD. You will have to maqke sure you're looking at one of the latest versions, because they were accidentally left out in the first 3.5 SRD. Didn't see stats for a cannon though. Here are two good source:

Note that the damage you posted is wrong for 3.5 (should be 3d8 for ballista, 4d6 for small catapult, 6d6 for large). Maybe you were using the 3.0 stats?

Ballista is 5'x5', light catapult 10'x10', heavy catapult and siege tower 15'x15', ram is 30' long.

yeah, actually, because I still do 3e, not 3.5 Still it's good to know, since others will be interested from the 3.5 perspective. Same process...

Per D&D (3.0 and 3.5 are the same):
Heavy Cat = 15' square
Light Cat = 10' square
Ballista = 5' square

Cannon was in the 3.0 DMG somewhere. It's the same as what the SeaFarer's Handbook uses (I checked originally). But I'd like to know how big it is likely to be.

So now we know the D&D stats for their versions (except cannons).

The next step:
What are the physical stats for the real thing?

Once we have those, what are the scale sizes for WWG's models (cannons, too)?

Then we can spec out the game stats of the WWG models by comparing D&D to real world and estimating.
