If the finished version of these are going to be crappy textured and free why not look at using the Google Warehouse to keep them. Free spot, no file limit, huge B/W for downloading.

Also keeping the files (free ones) off site might/would encourage more business to drop-in.

I don't know that the 72 dpi textures are really crappy. They look pretty descent to me. So a furhter reduction or watermarking my be inorder.

As far as moving the files to Google Warehouse, that would save some space. But I don't know how much business it would really bring. But I think that would expose the textures to alot of people who are looking to use it in other digital media.

Oh I know on screen that 72 dpi is not too bad, and if it was moved from the sketchup file it would not hold up hence why Denny suggested it - I guess. It is for this reason I have suggested it. As for bringing business well even if it got a handful of people - its a handful more than before and it costs nothing to the business.

Thats interesting, and probably a realy good marketing tool, but I don't know if I personally could do it. The new files are certainly small enough that they don't slow my computer down. However, when I rotate the view the textures usually turn black or to other colors. Once the camera is back in a fixed postition they come back up. But even then particular tiles or walls some times stay black. I have to take my pics from certain angles to ensure that all the textures are actually present.

I beleave this to be largely an issue with my personal computer. It is a budget laptop so this type of thing happens.

Dang it, I just found this thread. i should be more careful next time. I have been playing around with SketchUp for a while and I think I do fairly well. I have submitted samples in other threads, but I fear that they are too high of a resolution.

I am trying to reduce the resolution of my already high res models. I have SketchUp Pro and seem to be having trouble doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great video. You did seem to have improved the resolution from that 1st one you posted.

As far as the texture resolution I had to redo all my initial models. I simply turned the acrobat resolution down to 72 dpi before I copied the textures into a paint program. If your lucky someone knows a better method.

Did you apply textures to the curved surface of the propane tank? How hard was it?

None of my sketchup models have required it yet. But I was thinking about doing some more fantasy props in sketchup and I thought the hamock might give me trouble.

The propane tank was fairly simple. SketchUp will simply wrap the texture around the curved surface. I have a higher res video, but as usual online storage websites reduce the resolution drastically. I have a 1024X768 video that looks a whole lot better than the one I have posted.

The one at the end of the stalls next to the well? Its the small plaster house, one of the 5 standard buildings in villageworks.

Everything in the layout in unmodified and found in villageworks. Although I do have sku models of villageworks with interiors as well.
