I've been contemplating on whether to even bring this up.

I'm curious on the future of grid styles of WWG. I applaud the continued 1.5" even after the death of the clix industry and I realize that 1" and gridless will be a standard. But right now I'm slightly irate about the lack of hexes in the new Atlantis set.

Hinterlands is AMAZING. We had all the grid options that I could think of. I personally printed off two sets of it, one in 1.5" and one in hex. I am even considering printing off a gridless at 50% the size for Mechwarrior. But it seems the hex was a one off? Now granted this happened with the 1.5" as well when it first reached WWG sets.

I know you guys are ever evolving your style. However sometimes I wish there was more consistency in the sets.

Yeah I know, I should play "normal" games that use gridless or 1" like everyone else.

I got to say I don't envy WW having to deal with multiple styles.

Simply doing 1" and 1.5" is a hassle. Makes everything 3" lengths which messes with designs. And 3" isn't that small a place. A 3"x3" bathroom , the villageworks houses where like 4"x4" and 4"x6".

Hexes, I've never tried them. But don't they only lay right in 1 direction? Which means they need to makes multiple hex versions of the same tile?

Frankly I'm worried that the time investments mean sooner or later they'll simply decide to drop some of the formats. Especially since they stopped making clix. I just started playing those games.

Hinterlands seems to be an exception. I think its because it really doesn't use walls. You just drop things on top. The trees and cliffs don't need to be aligned right on the tile lines.

Its always been about juggling standards to see which were ultimately popular and or increased sales.

We'll likely continue to support 1.5" for modern releases or cross-over products but less so in other genres. Unfortunately there's never been much demand for hex grids or at least not enough to justify the extra workload. So what it usually comes down to there is time; if there's time, we'll include it.

I dont really care what grid is included as long as its 1 inch

Everything I have been printing off for use in my zombie game layout has all been 1-in grids, for easier movement and attack measurements. I dont play HeroClix or HorrorClix, though I do have some of the figures which i plan on popping off their bases and mounting on the style of bases i use for almost all my other minis (either 1 inch square bases or the 20mm round bases, larger figures or a group of figures that are to be mounted together receive larger bases).
