The Litko Tower System is nice and everything, looks both functional and attractive....

But somehow the sheer quantity of what you can make with the PCom sets, for a price that is 1/10th of the Litko stuff seems so much more fulfilling. Heck, the build I made over a couple of nights with a high fever makes the Litko setup seem puny....

Just a head's up - cardstock or not, I think WW wins this round.

Is that Litko system pre-painted or do you have to do that yourself? Looks pretty cool but I like Matt's better personally

Reading the fine print on that pic, note that the ground is for demo purposes only, the kit only gives you the buildings.

Is this the same company that does single-deck flat ships with masts and yards (but no sails) for $40?

Now for a real comparison, spend $350 on paper, ink and supplies and the kit and see what that can build you. No kitbashing, just straight building.

The only caveat is you discount the time involved, but my take on that is slightly different. I enjoy the building process, others however may just feel it is tedious and maybe it would be more fair to not discount the time for them.

Still that should build a pretty impressive layout.
I believe I have spent right around $250 on my layouts total.
For that I have 65 tiles (roughly 22 sq.ft. of flat layout)
15+ vehicles
24-36 props
15+ building units
even those non WWG Rail road model trees
and the model sets

This is exactly what attracted me to WorldWorks. Not that I shopped around, but I have friends that do war-gaming and I knew this stuff normally has a high price tag, but card-stock models I can print myself? I loved those old "Build this Castle" things when I was a kid. I didn't even have any idea I could run combats in them for that stuff. Cardstock modeling it is, then.

Although being brand new to the cardstock modeling, if there was one thing I think that old castle I put together had that the Worldworks doesn't is a couple of pictures of the finished product. I think I might pay a buck or two more for a little book I could print out that had a few pictures of a finished set and a little list of the models I need to put together for them. That way when I'm done, I can set it all together, like the picture, and admire my work. Considering I probably won't be able to get a game together for quite a while, this seems awesome.

It was so cool seeing that castle come together and start looking like the picture on the book. Currently, I'm floating on what I know the thing can look like and that doesn't seem as visceral.

Nope, I concur. Much less impressive.

So, perhaps after Exteriorworks, Matt will release another PCON set, this time focused on Oktil Industries...the reverse of Litko... meaning, cheaper, better, more versatile, pre-painted, high quality, etc.

I have only dealt with Litko once on a custom project and was not impressed with either the service or the quality of the end product. Very disappointing, especially since custom jobs have no return policy even when they don't deliver what you asked for.

My dealings with Litko have been very positive. I ordered a custom template a week before christmas, and received it within a few days. I was impressed with everything I've ordered from them. I do have to agree that the wooden building system is outside my price range, though.

Litko makes some interesting stuff. It's a different market really. You guys are being too tough on them.

A set of ink for my pinter costs me about $60 for all 4 cartridges, but I wouldn't use all that ink to print a whole set. Cardstock costs me about $12 for 250 sheets.

I grant you my 1st ww set, CWU, cost me a lot more. But that was when I was using HP 3 in 1 color cartridges, at about $35 a piece. That set took me 3 or 4 cartridges.

But also another thing to consider is that most people will probably have better results building WW models than they will trying to paint terrain.
