Did another session of Pirates of the Spanish Main with my friend Bob who just recently got hooked on the game (I must admit I got him hooked. Sometimes I feel like crack dealer). However, the irony of ironies, I keep losing to him. I was winning by one point and had a heavy laden ship with two, count them 2 treasures valued at 4 points each! That's 8 points plus an additional 1 pointer. If my ship reaches my home port, I win.

Well, he chose a ship that I didn't pay attention to its' stats. He was heading towards my island and I told him he couldn't steal any treasure in home ports. I thought he didn't know the rules and was making a mistake. Then I thought he was trying to head me off but he was approaching the far side of the island out of cannon range. He then docked! He had a frickin' ship or crew member (I forget which) that allows him to dock on my home island and steal a single treasure! He stole one random treasure piece (we ruled since this is a hit and run situation and the rules state only one treasure could be taken, we made it random). He stole a single 1 point piece!

It no longer mattered if my ladened ship of treasure made it to home port. All ships were ordered to intercept that scurvy treasure stealin' pirate. I rammed three times with no effect and lost a ship in the progress. He made it to his home port but didn't declare victory. Puzzled I remembered he kept moving a slow moving schooner towards his island each turn which was carrying the winning piece. He had successfully distracted me from the real target. Had I went after the smaller vessel (and my ships were fast) and I succeeded in capturing or boarding the ship I could have been worthy of the name sea captain. All in all, a damn fine session.

I can hardly wait to show my Sea Maiden when I am finished with it. Of course, he will innocently want me to share the files with him and then I can state the ills of Internet Piracy (No Boarding here, my laddie!) and laugh in his face. hehehe It always comes down to who has the bigger ship.

Thursday Night Mordheim! We started the new campaign tonight, and skipped the campaign ender that I had worked out - keeping it simple. Well, that, and folks thought that I would be just about unbeatable if I fielded the entire mass of my warbands in unison... even against everyone else. I set it up so that if even one person won then I lost but they didn't want to take the chance... They may have been right. (More accurately, all that it would have taken is one player taking an opportunity to attack anybody but my warbands til I was off the table - it might have been enough to throw the campaign... At least that is what they were afraid of.)

So, the new mix - Two Skaven, One Shadow Elf, One Reiklander (me), One Orc, One Dwarf, One Beastman (new player too), One Sisters, One Witch Hunter (using my figures for now), One Carnival of Chaos, One Possessed, and one Brettonian (new player, using my figures). A nice baker's dozen of players. We will be swapping around who gets the extra game each night this time through, I think one of the reasons that I pulled ahead so fast is that I would play the odd player out with another warband. (The original idea of why I swapped out so many warbands was so that I would not get too many victories on any one warband, but since I didn't lose they still added up too much over time. A year is a long campaign...)

In the Lustria campaign I am tied for first, Tony and I have only lost one game each, next week we face each other again... The Lustria game only has six players right now, up from four the first two weeks. So Tony and I will be facing each other every six weeks.

Tony is now replacing the Skull Cove cliffs with insulation foam, I gather that his set did not travel well last game - rain damage. He is keeping the bits, including the skull (of course), the boats, the barrels, and the fort, but the cliffs and beaches are being replaced. A stepped pyramid is also in the works. He has also purchased Cave Works - Tony is certainly enjoying his new hobby!

Played a futuristic GURPS game, to learn the new 4th ed. rules (love 'em so far!) on Fri night.

Last night, we played Werewolf: The Apocalype for about 9 hours. Here's some of the session.

Am I the only one playing anything? Take the time to play some stuff!

Here's the pics from a huge D&D battle with 75 Orcs and 3 17th-level antagonists (who appeared on the rooftops to kick our butts)! We're only 11th level at this point, and each of the Orcs were 10th-Level Fighters.

Thanks to some inventive spellcasting, sheer brute force, and the early withdrawl of the 3 high-level antagonists, we barely made it out alive!

I was asked today if I was going to run All Flesh again... I had only planned on running that one, and perhaps one using Skull Cove that is not related to the first game in any way. (Not even the source of the zombies...)

The Auld Grump

Played more of our Werewolf game yesterday, but never even needed our minis.

That's okay, though. We're on our way to another continent, so I'm not sure what we'll need (again with the no warning! ) for next session.

So, I'm still focusing on building the Inn for our fantasy games.

I hope to be playing a lot of D&D in june, starting the new Dungeon Age of Worms adventure path. My first game with the kids should be within the next two weeks. We'll see how they and the girlfriend like it. Look for some builds from me relating to the new adventure path soon -- As soon as I actually get my copy of issue #124. Darn postal holidays!!

Played 40k again. Muuuuuch closer, this time around!

The guy who played Daemonhunters and I (Orks) teamed up (1000 pts ea) against his fiance, who's a Tyranid fiend! She just got the new box set, and we're having fun with all the rules changes to their army list. Much more balanced.

Anyway, we used terrain this time, with four bunkers being the objectives for her to come and take over. Ended up with none of us in the bunkers at all, with both sides almost completely decimated, and only 91 points deciding the game in favor of the Tyranids!

For the terrain, we used all WW stuff, with 4x4 P&I floor tiles being the "bunkers." Here's a shot of the game just after deployment. We have yet to paint most of our armies, and there's quite a few blank bases or stand-ins, but you get the idea.



[edit] Oh, yeah. The blue jack-in-the-Box straws glued to strips of cardstock are razorwire!

Well to round out the month, my friend Bats and I played our first two games of DOOMTOWN CCG and it was blast. Why they stopped making this game, I will never know.

Also, played Hitman 2 the pc game. Got in a bargain bin for 4.99 and it is worth every penny.
