I was on a paper models list-serve (that seems to have died now) looking for freebies, and saw some interesting things going on here and started out with the pubs and inns interior set for one gaming project, then got hooked. I dont think I have downloaded any more freebies since because most of them just arent as good as what I find here. It is worth it to pay for the quality and the support I have gotten here.

And, now that my new printer is here, I can start catching up on all the WWG Goodness I have bought!

A long time back i was looking at solutions to 3D terrain in my various RPG games. What i really had wanted was some stuff for my Star Wars game, and was having problems getting anything that i thought looked good.

I was willing to try anything for terrain, resin (Dwarven Forge), plaster (Hirst Arts), and Cardstock (at the time all i really knew about was Micro tactixs, and the free stuff by Germy). In truth i bought Micro Taxtics but really didn't like the look of it, while the designs weren't bad i was Very un impressed by the black and white nature of it, and never did anything with what i got, haven't built a darn thing (my game not running at the time didn't help at all in my desire to built something) there were a few other free things on the net i saw and downloaded, but most of it was just really lack luster, you tended to get quality of what you paid for (it was free, so the quality was not high in my mind).

I was over on the WotC Star Wars boards talking about terrain with some one (Cyberwolf), going into PM's and e-mails and he mentioned a few places, one of them i had heard about WWG.

A member of our D&D group had gotten Village works. and while I liked the look of the product a somewhat poor build of some of the models made me initally pass on WWG and any of their products (mainly becuase i was looking for Sci-fi and at the time there was none i liked the look of).
So time goes by and i hear about two Sci-fi sets First Light and another set, from a company that is pretty much now defunct. I bought the other set first becuase i think it came out first, and i liked it, and that is what got me into card stock modeling, which made me very keen to get First Light when i came out, and First Light is what brought me into WWG. Even though i had another companies products i would have bought FL if just for the options, to get more sets that would different walls textures etc, the same thing with Derelict from Mel/Ebbles).

I have been a supporter of the Sci-Fi (and to a lesser extent Modern) with WWG. And will talk about them, and mel and actually anything i use or buy to people who want to know abou itt, or are looking for suggestions on things. While i may tned to plug the Sci-fi more over the Fantasy, it is just becuase i tend to run more SF over F and talk to more of what i want and need.
That said i do own a few of the Fantasy sets, mostly the Interior sets, but i think maybe a few more.

In 2003 a friend of mine was interested in using cardstock terrain, so I did some online research for him, discovering Dungeon Works.

I talked him into getting it. He had me assemble a bunch of rooms and corridors for him, with the bribe that I would actually be able to play in a game rather than run it for a change! Since I had helped him build and design the dungeon it was determined that my character had already been there once, with a group that had been wiped out (my character was a paladin as I recall). He then assembled a few more rooms (all the rooms and corridors were free standing) for the areas my character had not seen. The name of the place was The Godforsaken Hole.

We then packed everything into cardboard boxes so he could carry it all back home to New Hampshire and the next time I was in the area I did in fact get to play.

He in turn talked me into getting Village Works and Castle Works, since at the time I was doing a lot more wargaming than role playing. This was followed by both Interior Works sets, Dungeon Works and eventually Arena Works. (Like Dungeon Works I assembeld someone elses Arena Works models before buying my own set, in this case for a Blood Bowl stadium. I wish that I actually liked Blood Bowl...)

I also got into a habit of building terrain to give away as prizes or gifts, since at the time I was more concerned with making the models than I was with keeping them. I suspect that there are still more models that I have built floating around in other people's collections than in my own.
