One way to add some purely cosmetic "organic" feel to the outside is to add some curved vanes to the model. One variety I have in my mind's eye would partially wrap around the outside hull, at perhaps an inch or two distance. Kinda like this:



The "vanes" themself would just be a flat piece of texture with a cilindrical curvature, so the contour of the vane can be as blobby and organic as you like. The whole thing would be supported on some stalks attached to the roof, so they wouldn't get in the way once you take the roof off. But they'll nice conceal the boxy outside contours.

Another idea (apart from the already mentioned overhanging organic roof edges) would be to make the outside walls domed as well - especially if you can match the texture to the roof. That's a bit more effort to build though.

As I said... lots of kitbash potential to add a more "organic" feel. Then again, I certainly wouldn't complain if something like this was included in the set to begin with.

Yes...I understand the "not for me" - I've no use for it as a "Sci-fi" set...so no 2nd tought about a ship with alien texture...but the pictures of the interior layout set can be used nearly in any "fantasy" realm ... maybe even the interior of the Spike in the climatic end of my Evernight campaing (hope is out before it...because only one game left to that...but until september all is a bit dead for us) - I was planning to use the PCcon but too much work at the moment to build a proper 3d environement...but a few alien looking corridors and rooms can do the trick...so I'm in (as well as I was out before)

The interiors definitely have their use, but cardstock is a tertiary hobby for me so I like my things ready to go out of the box. So from that perspective this ones a bit niche. I see it most useful for miniatures scenarios.

Anyhoo, just throwing some feedback out.

I know not everyone will want or need a set like this, but I just can't resist virgin territory, or WEIRD sets.

For this set, there were so many directions I could have gone, I just chose this one. The main idea is...how to intergrate curved pieces into a modular set. It the pieces were all curvy and crazy it would be very organic, but a hassle to build and the modularity would be compromised. I chose a mix of curved and flat verticals.

This is really just the start. I have a ton of ideas that are not going to make it into this set because of time constraints and I'm planning another release with much more stuff.

That is very cool to know, so far it looks like this will be one i am grabbing right when it's out, and unless some really wonky things happen to change that.

But hearing that there is more stuff for latter, is also very cool so that this idea isn't a dead end with just this set, makes it even more interestting to see what is coming next.

Personally I would have rather seen an alienified human space ship (ie. what you've done but mixed with human elemants). I don't really have a use for this set, but as usual your execution is quite nice.

Build time is "it depends". It's almost twice the size of FL, and if you wanted to make it really complex with lots of small modules instead of a few big ones the build time would be formidable. However in its present state it's about 130% of the time needed for FL. Roughly.
