Would it help if we promised our next Himmelveil release won't be a standee pack (not counting the Savage Worlds version of Citizens II)?

Wow, in three years or so of being a member here, this is the first time I can remember a Creators vs Consumers spat (I know I have overstated it by calling it a spat, but please allow me the licence).

The funny thing is that everyone has been ultra polite and, according to their own world view, 100% accurate. That the debate has largely remained impersonal is a miracle rarely repeated on other forums. Well done to all involved for putting both sides of the argument so well.

I must admit, I suffer from withdrawal symptoms (TWITCH) when I think of SoH too much, but then I cast my eye around my half finished models of Himmelveil Harbormaster, Cathedrae Noctis and Something Below and realise that even if it were released tomorrow, it would be six months before my building schedule would accomodate it.

The basic problem seems to be finding a reliable designer to pick up the project from Denny, finish it off and get it out on the streets (no pun intended). To this end, I have a suggestion. How about asking Matt Lyon to shelve whatever his current project is at the moment and take a special commission to complete SoH. Looking at Matt's workrate over the past few releases of his, I would be surprised if he needed more than a month to finish off some of the stuff Denny showed us about 18 months ago.

Just a thought, but it would certainly help thaw the atmosphere a bit if WWG could find a quick way to get some progress behind this problem child (which many of us feel should be WWGs flagship product).

Whatever you decide Denny & Co, it'll get my full support. WWG is an amazing place and the quality (and cost) of your releases is unparallelled. Keep up the good work.

It seems that aside from Denny the current crew at World Works is not all that interested in Fantasy. Much as I might love to see Mr. Senior chained to a desk until he does Himmelveil Harbor it would be counterproductive - 'cause then I'd want him to do Himmelveil Light, the Himmelveil Warehouse District, etc., a never ending process, sooner or later he'd chew through the chains and escape. I am glad that he did Mayhem Harbor, and I can use enough bits from Skull Cove to fake Himmelvel Harbor.

Forcing creative designerds (umm, that was a typo, but I like the look of it... they are working on gaming material after all ) to work on things that do not hold their interest would not be good for any concerned.

I have accepted that horror is the closest I am going to get to fantasy in anything like the near future. I have not *twitched* in years.

There is lots of evidence that your story isn't unusual, but that it should dramatically, improve your results.

Most people don't realize the effort required to design something in a reasonably cohesive fashion. "Just do this, and it'll be cool!"

Or the heart ache, when the test results come back... "It sucks. Do it again."

Then you deal with some of the customers... "I wouldn't do it that way. That sucks. Who would pay money for that?"

And the competition... "HAHAHA! Suckers! We got all the loot!"

Did I mention that you don't make any money while you deal with this?

To add to Ghenghis Ska's post all you have to look at is the traffic on the forum - posts not vists. In the past week or so there has been less threads on here in a very long time. Over the years this trend happens in between releases but this time it seems to be happening faster and faster.

No not that there is anything wrong with what has been put out in the past year or so (I'm loving the modern and horror and Sci-Fi is sweet) but nothing creates magic in the mind of the users than Fantasy.


Find the magic again and mine the hell out of it.
