I knew that switching to a new release format would cause some confusion early on and that some controversy was likely. It will take some time and possibly a rough start before people settle into the new “groove”. I'm hoping that sales are stable with this first release but I won't panic if they are "sluggish" at first.

Where to Start?
Simply put, as a foundation to future modern sets I thought that a modular street construction set would be a good place to start. It's not a huge first release but at only $10.00 it's a steal. Early on I made a decision to standardize each tile dimension so that future releases will fit whatever layout you create like a glove. Not only that but the street tiles come in both "PaperLinX" and standard formats allowing you to create layouts on the fly. Users can choose whatever format they are most comfortable with. Some of you might opt for creating “Masterboard” layouts while others may enjoy the "on-the-fly" design freedom that PaperLinX offers. By the time a typical user finishes building “Streets of Mayhem” the first building release won’t be far behind.

Building Expansions

Future building expansions are based around the same dimensions as the street building kit. Essentially the buildings themselves will be modular and scalable, allowing you to create small single story buildings or massive multi-room/multi-story structures. Workable Skyscrapers are also possible in this coming format. Each building kit will come in two flavors "movie set build" and "hero build". In "movie set build" you can quickly throw together "flats" comprised of exterior building textures, giving the illusion of fully fleshed out building(s) or backgrounds. In "Hero Build" format these same structures are detailed both inside and out allowing for internal play. Each building set will come complete with a variety of props appropriate to the building type.

The Future

UrbanMayhem is a modular city from the ground up and with each release your design potential will grow. As a customer, holding off on a purchase for 6 months to buy a bunch of sets all at once might not be the best move under this new format. You'll likely be overwhelmed by the amount of building you need to do. The best option is to build releases as they become available. There will be just enough lag time between releases for you to build a kit and recharge your batteries in time for the next one. I can envision a day when groups of gamers will get together at CONs, mixing their sets to create "mega cities". This applies not only to UrbanMayhem but to the future of Himmelveil (our coming fantasy city) as well.
